Hey Guys, I just got my first real job to do for somebody and I'm a little nervous. I've got 2 helments to paint and I was wondering if anyone has any advice or a step by step for me to go by. As far as how to prep and finish.

Thank ya, Thank ya very much.

what type of helmets are they?

If they have rubber moldings, don't take them off, the glue that holds that rubber is stronger than the rubber itself and you will end up destroying most of it (trust me I learned the hard way).

Make yourself a post/stand so you don't have to handle it with your hands.

prep: wax and grease remover, and gray scotch pad (get rid of all the shine)

one more note: the least amount of clear you can get away with on a helmet the better. The more clear you put on, the worse off the rock chips will be so 2-3 coats if you can, especially if they're moto-cross

Black motorcycle helments with a full face shields. I'll try and post pictures when they are finished.

This might be a silly question, but what's the best paint for helments?

urethanes have always worked great for me, and i've done over 50 helmets, your local automotive paint supply store will have'em, and they're a great source of knowledge (most of the time).

Uro's are great,
I've been using AutoAir on my last few, but I know its not everybodies fav.

Good Luck

AA is all I use, as I shoot smaller pieces at home. I'm getting to like it more....especially since I found out from Clinton and Saint that you can thin the crap out of it, regardless what the bottle says.
