Hi All.

I have to do some intricate fine line taping ( curves on a RC Helicopter canopy) would really help if I marked 'position markers' to get the tape accurate.
What can I use to mark out, that I can leave on then spray over using AA that will not give me any rejection problems with paint going over the markers.

Thanks

Tony

Probably stabilo pencil is the easiest way, chalk as well as that would just blow off with a bit of air.

I have used pastel pencils, pick a colour close to your final colour.

Actually, Bob is right, water colour pencils are an excellent tool...although they don't leave as clear a line as the stabilo pencils do, they have NO reaction to uro basecoats or clears. If you did a mark that remained visible with a stabilo pencil, it will bleed and sorta change in colour when you clear it. (I know, tried to get clever once and fix an area of a piece I didn't want to remask and do the right way... the stabilo pencil changed dramatically when cleared.

Chalk pastels (never ever oil pastels) would work just fine. Same with Chalk pastel pencils, same product with a little more accuracy.

Some artists I know use a xerox of a sketch and make windows and flaps in it, misting through a little white or whatever to map out the piece. It can help lay in the groundwork, easy breezy. When I do that, I lay in what I know needs to be crisp and hard (like irises of the eye, etc.). Then work up the rest with either chalk or??

I also "transfer" my designs using Saral paper. wax free... never a problem with water based automotives, uro's or fine art materials.
