Thin it a little bit! The vl3 is not junk!

1st rule with me..Spray water thu it...If it sprays fine..Then there's nothing wrong with the AB....Most paints are finicky, I've never had good luck with createx...Some use it everyday tho:D....Like Robert said, mess with thinning, also play with Airpressure.

My bad, didn't see that you were using Createx... which is the BANE of every one here.

First, strain the paint...pantyhose works great, just use a little square placed on the top of the bottle, then screw the cap back on.

Second...yeah, you're gonna have to thin it. Water is the safest bet. The alcohol (which contains quite a bit of water) is ok for the airbrush... things like Fantastic do nasty things over time to the chrome on any airbrush.

Guys,
does this apply to the Auto Air range also?
cos I'm using the same ab and mine does that spluttering gig too. Especially when you go fine. I run it at about 35-40psi, but it's off of a 3hp 12cfm 120L unit so I could go waaaay higher. Only thing is, if you do crank the pressure up you get loads of breeze over the work, so if you were trying to hold a stencil in place it would likely blow around wouldn't it?

I got 2 new AB's and am playing.. AA, and the dread white..

I have FOUND that white FOR ME, likes 18-20#

now, fine details.. I use the little 1/4 oz cup..
right now am painting on glass..
1 drop of Catalyst
4 drops of 4011
the cup filled 2/3's up with AA Bright White.
stir with tooth pick.

IF I pull the needle back totally this 'mix' almost immediately does 2 things..
spatters like speckle paint.. AND within SECONDS, builds up the tip-aka tip dry..

IF instead, I pull back SLIGHTLY, its spraying, but not full open, then there is a 'point of pull', (for you old times and cars with carbs) that the mix is CORRECT, and it lays it out absolutely flat and smooth.. PLUS the tip dry time takes about (IMO guestimate) 3 to 4 times as long to build up to be a problem..
I ALSO can add 1-2 drops MORE 4011 and its still OK, just takes longer for coverage as such..

now, this is MY current experience, etc, and am still playing with the AB.

TOMORROW I am going to yank the tip and replace with a fine and see what the diff is..

Warrior I have the same problem I am glad to see you brought this up . Sputtering . I get frustrated and just put it away. Now this could be my own fault because I never read the instructions either. But one thing I have noticed is that my AB is basically a siphon feed , it has to lift the paint and the ones I see people using the most are gravity feed ,paint reservoir is on top. It would seem that gravity feed would have a constant supply of paint at the tip. But dont take my word for it , its just an observation.
