flaming skulls progress

I painted it on a gift box painted black. I use them for practice until i get good enough. Thanks for the comments.

finally got it finished. Have let it sit there for a while. The flames arent my best, but it is only a gift box i made it on. Practice, practice practice...

you're great so far....if it were me, next, i'd come in and enhance the fire and skull highlights with some thinned opaque yellow, then bring some candy orange lightly over that....to get one step lighter on just the mid parts of the flames.

then come in even tighter on the highlights with the thin opaque yellow, leaving the red and dark and mid oranges alone, then hit the whole shootin match with some candy yellow....then go from there with the highest-lights. You up to it?
