There seems to be a lot of YouTube videos linked here, and they always require you to click on a link to open a new window to view the videos.
I've added some custom bbcode to the board that will embed the link into a window within the post so that people can watch it without leaving the forum.
To use this bbcode, enter the v number of the video between youtube /youtube tags, like this:
Example:
RyKvD-4IxOY
The part between the tags will always be the part at the end of the link.... whatever's after the v= So if your YouTube video link goes to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyKvD-4IxOY what you would enter in between the youtube tags is RyKvD-4IxOY
Good luck, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask
Luckily I don't play U-tube much....I can't make anything out of that..I'm sure it's cake to 99% of peeps...numbers and letters in sequence just confuse the hell outta me...hahaha...I wont need to use it, so I'm going to save myself the headache:D
Ya can't make it so peeps just copy the embed link from U-tube and paste it in the post Box???...I know another Vbull forum that works like that..Doesn't get much easier....Just a thought, no biggie...Tiz cool of you to do this, hopefully everyone else is smarter than I..LOL

It's very dangerous to do that. The way the bbcode is written the YouTube website url is hard coded into the replacement code. You can only link to YouTube using this code. We could add other video sites if requested, but they would need to be evaluated to make sure they're safe for our members first. YouTube is safe... so are we.

Out of interest, what is the difference between, how you tube is used in the forum, to the way it is set up for embeding in the profiles, where it sets up with the little video screen ready to roll.
Or is that what will happen now if the bbcode is used......see haven't a clue either.

You'll have to ask Denise. I know nothing about the zoints system... can barely spell it.
Ahhh I see...I'm sure i could figure this method out, just have to know what the hell I'm looking at...hahaha....Next time I want to play U-tube link I'll hit this thread up and play..LOL

I'm thinking Rons method here sets it up just like it does in Airospace.....Only diff is in Airospace you just embed the code like I was suggesting......Guess ya can't do that here cuz the master switch that allows such opens it up for anything.....Did I get the Jist Ron??...hahaha

No, I didn't think about setting up a specific forum for videos. But I'm sure if you want one we can do it. Bbcode is global though, it can't be set up for specific forums. It's either available everywhere, or nowhere.
Actually, I just did it on a whim because I wanted to post a video of dueling banjos in the bigfoot hoax thread in Off Topic. Not so sure a specific forum would really apply. These links always seem to just appear in the middle of discussion somewhere.
Maybe we need to give Nat her own forum. She seems to be the only person who regularly starts a thread with a video in the initial post.

I take it back Steven, you can enable/disable bbcode on a per forum basis. Don't know what I was thinking last night when I wrote that. Jimmy, Denise and I had been discussing the time editing limitations as they apply to the article work area, and I guess I just confused myself. The limitation is that it's all bbcode either on or off for a specific forum. You can't disable individual bbcodes.
