I didn,t want to highjack youre thread, so I hope You dont mind Me asking. BTW, I love all of Yer work. But I,m curious as to the Bronzing techniques, Thats one of the few things I,ve never tried and have allways wondered how it is done, Do You have to take it somewhere & have it dipped, Like chrome, nickle , copper & other platings ? or is it possible to do it yourself ? OR am I just all screwed up in My thinking. Thanks for any info. Cowboy
Cowboy there are a number of ways of getting "bronze effect"
My sculpures have been cast in bronze though.
Basicaly a mold is made from my sculpture (the green thing behind on the photo's). From this mold is cast a wax copy which is then covered in a ceramic shell, then cooked to create a ceramic shell, this also melts out the wax copy. (lost wax casting)
Then molten bronze is poured into the ceramic shell.
You can also "cold cast" using bronze powder and resin. This will give you a true bronze finish but it basicaly is a glass fiber sculpure and dose not have the same feel. oh and you still need to make your mold first which the hardest part of the whole process.
I have also faux bronzed plaster demo pieces before using acrylics and the bronze wax over. Its very effective.
If you are refering to the male sculpture I posted, that was an experiment and was done by electro plating with copper.
Hope this helps.

Ok Thanks Michael, I was just curious. I have done alot of ceramic & porcelin stuff & have A Brand new kiln I been playing with. Just allways looking for new things to play with.
I am familiar with the process You explained. it,s Perty much how I make Kustom gold wedding bands , Carving the design,s in the wax , then molding around them , melting the wax out & pouring dentists gold in it for the ring itself . Then break it out & clean the Edge from where poured in , & polishing. Very tedious work , but fun & Very expensive now days.
Anyway Thanks for the info. Cowboy
