Well last sat. and sun. was good and bad. Sat was great, busy and loads of customers. The festival was basicly over at 6:00pm but I was there until 8:30 still painting with soar as hell feet. I didn't do as many shirts as I wanted to do that day, I only did 19 shirts, 1 hat and 5 rugs. The thing was that I would have a down time where no one would show up and then they would all come in a rush and I would get behind. Plus even though I had help, I still had to heat set the shirts and that took time.

Sunday, was horrible!!! I woke up to rain and it didn't stop. I tryed to stay as long as I could and the only reason I did that was because I still had 2 shirts to do for some people who I just couldn't do them for on sat. So I tried to stay as long as I could but I couldn't really paint because of the rain and no room to work because all my tables were inside with stuff on them. And i feel really bad because the people paid for there shirts and I can't get them to them and I don't know if they took a card with them to call me and I didn't take the order. So a new policy from now on is if i take a order from someone or my help does that they give them a card to call if anything happens such as this:(

Just a thought on some sampling stuff,,,
do a little research on local schools in
the area of the flea market on school
mascot type stuff !!!
Here,,, at graduation at least,,, sheet
sets (sheet/pillow cases) and comforters
with school mascots (Lions/Tigers/Bulldogs)
are good sellers along with towels,,, etc....
These are items not thought about unless
seen,,, so if displayed,,, they're seen !!!
Just a thought !!!
Good Luck on those Flea Markets !!!

Hey Siberian! how did the pre-pay for the shirts turn out? Did the people call ya like you hoped they would? That had to be a hard situation to deal with.

This is sorta related (you guys sick of me yet?)...
I had a conversation with a t-shirt artist, he was set up in fair...selling shirts with school logo/mascot...and because it wasn't his original art - but rather a trademarked/copyrighted design of the school's, he was told to cease and desist. How do you guys work around this? On one hand, you could ask for permission (in writing)...on the other, you could come up with something similar, but not the same...?
And for that matter...(here she goes)...celebrity portraits (or ref. things like great white sharks, eagles, etc), most of us don't get to hang with Brad Pitt (for instance)...and we rely on popular media to get good shots...but isn't this violating intellectual property and copyrights? There are some damn fine artists out there that do well with this kind of work...are they getting permission? or asking for trouble?

I always worked around by not copying the school designs and making up my own.
It got to the point where people were asking me where I got all my designs from which tickled me.

The question is what do you do when you walk up to the front doors of a school and they have one of your designs originated by you printed on flyers taped on every door and all over the halls of the school with the words "Approved by the GPISD".

Oh, nice... you're not allowed to use their designs without permission, in fear of reprocussions...but they're allowed to pillage your works? I'd probably have a quiet word with someone about that... (then again, I'm not known for subtlety)... even if it's not copyrighted, it's still your intellectual property (as long as you can prove it).
