Here are two pics of paintings done by NY artist Chuck Close. The B+W is a self portrait from 1968. The other is a selfportrait done in 2005. He used an airbrush to paint the '68 image. The second was done with a paintbrush. He can't airbrush now as he is paralized from a spinal affliction that happened some years back. Not sure of the date. I was lucky enough to have seen a retrospect of his work in 1980 when I was a senior in highschool here in Minneapolis. It was amazing. His paintings were all done with airbrush and wer all around 7'x9'. Some were in color and some were B+W but all were incredible. Enjoy the pics and I encourage you to check the web for more of his work.

I've seen his work before, he's amazing...for many reasons. He works HUGE now (literally), has this neat scrolling set up..
I love his portraits! Food for the colour junkie.

Steve, thanks for sharing. The original airbrush self portrait is an old and dear favorite of mine. What a great artist Close has been, the work is so creative.
Sometime, I'll have to tell the story of having a Roy Lichtenstein large porcelain medallion in my office for a year, and I had to restore it. It was an inspiring experience....

Thanks for sharing, Steve.
I agree, I've always admired his work, too.
It's an inspiration too that even getting paralyzed hasn't stopped him...just shifted his approach.
wow.
Something to always keep in mind.
