I will probably be told these are not real, or are old long known pics, or something (happens every time), but I was emailed these from a friend who knows I airbrush. If new, (which they are to me regardless), they are stunning, amazing work. The first time I actually was blown away with the concept and detail. Enjoy! Sorry, don't know the link or artist, but I will try to find out......

You are not the only one to have never seen these. I admit I don't go out of my way to look for such items but this is different. (This could be on the outside edge of the lips painted on the hand.)

Someone has imagination to go with a talent.

Thanks for posting Dog.

Man , those are fantastic!! I've seen some good worl before but those are mind blowing. Anyone know theb site to see more of this artist work? Body painting is something I really want to do. I want to start off by doing tattos and then move up. I just need to reserch for info on paints to use and what all goes with it. I use to get this magazine called "face painters magazine" but they stopped making them and they were sooooooo good. Anyone know of any other magazine directed towards that? Thanks.

Neil,

I'll be contacting you for as much info as you will happily provide as far as me getting into the body painting and tattooing. I'll need to know the do's and don'ts. I plan on teaching my girlfriend how to do it so that when I do some of my shows, she can do the tatoos.

AT&T, a cell phone carrier in America run a series of adds using just painted hands and a phone - fantastic work, if you search for At&T posters there should be some pics :-)

I have some examples at work I'll try to post some during the week :-)

Wow--fantastic work for sure! My only question is how the artist actually makes money doing it. All that time spent doing each one....and it's not permanent, can't be framed and hung on your wall--it just gets washed off and it's gone. I suppose the AT&T route would be one way....

The art is permanent, as is evident by the fact that people are still wowed by it on our itty bitty airbrush forum four years after this thread was started.

Art is more often than not created for art's sake, not for money. Picasso never made a penny, neither did van Gough. Matisse, Monet, they all died broke. The artworks were recognized long after their death, and are now worth small fortunes, but at the time they created them they didn't create them for money. They created them for a way to release an expression in their soul, and that's what makes us artists. The love of what we do. If money comes from it, so much better... but don't let the lack of money surpress your dreams.

If you are interested in creating these kind of images and maybe making some $ look at http://www.worth1000.com/ its a fun site that will push your photoshop skills to the test, and it does help you for getting ideas and thoughts for airbrushing! It might be a good resource for taking a theme and challenging us to airbrush our best interpretation of the theme.

Bigwater, you cannot make me believe that these people had their hands painted like this permanently. And they sure as hell don't look like any tattoos I've ever seen. The photos or images themselves may be permanent, but the paint is not--if it is indeed paint. But as evidenced by PeaHead's post above, they seem to be photoshopped instead of painted. And the advertisements depicted show that the creator of these is most certainly making money from it. One would HAVE to make money to paint like this (if it were painting) unless one were already independently wealthy and an income from the work didn't matter. If you don't make SOME from of income from your art, you had best have some other source of money--be it a second job, inheritance, the government, sponging off friends and/or relatives, whatever--or one cannot pay for the paint and other materials to create art in the first place. The artists you mentioned also had to have money coming from somewhere in order to obtain their materials to create--paint and canvas are not free. Yes, I understand the concept of creating art for the sheer enjoyment of doing so and that a good many people do just that.....however, in my case I HAVE to earn money from my art because all I know how to do is paint. Perhaps I should have re-phrased my question and asked first if the artists does this for money or not, and THEN asked how.

I didn't mean that the art was permanent on the hands... I meant that the art is permanent in the fact that it was captured on camera, maybe transfered to canvas, and will be available forever for people to look at. No, I'm sure it was done as temporary body paint, but the art still remains, hense it's permanent. I don't believe it was photoshopped, but even if it was it is still very creative, and art in my eyes... and permanent.

Gotcha--I had thought you meant the paint being permanent. I do agree that it is very creative and most definitely art regardless of the method used to create it.
