At my business, we had a very big VIP visit today. Some time ago, Carl, our machinist and engineer, a great guy, who is a member of the Texas State Guard, told me that their signs at Camp Mabrey were pretty sad. Since we are in the business and we like to help the community when and where possible, we did them some signs for their HQ.
Well, after making a formal appointment, the Brigadier General Raymond Peters, Major Tom Mohler and their staff arrived this morning to present us with an award of thanks and a medallion of honor for our contribution in an area where they typically get no support. The plaque, for anyone who cares, read (It was presented framed so I can't scan it) " In recognition of selfless service and support to the Texas Military Forces, Mr. McCallum and his dedicated staff provided professional military signage for Headquarters, Texas State Guard. This is a noteworthy accomplishment that increases the professional image of our volunteer forces. The State of Texas will genuinely benefit from the outstanding support provided by Mr. McCallum and the iZone corporate team."
May be small potatoes to some, but we were truly moved and honored, these guys, an all volunteer outfit, put 1800 men and women on the ground when Rita hit. We lost Carl for many weeks.
We are beaming pround tonight and I just wanted to share this with you guys.
