Need help Clearing over autographs.

A guy has bought one of the harley's from the John Travolta film wild hogs that the cast all signed with a gold pen. He has asked me how to protect the autographs, obviously I cant sand it to clear it and if I just clear it it will probably just lift at a later stage.
Any ideas on how to do this ?

I took pics of it with my mobile but cant find the cable to down load them DOhhhhh will post them later.

Only done one autograph on a git fiddle...It was signed in a silver sharpie marker.....I washed it real good with hot soapy water 1st...Then whiped it down with regular degreaser real careful like..(Around the sig, not over It) sanded real careful and close like to the sig too....I figured if I can get good adhesion close to the sig (all around it)...My clear will still hold fine over the sig...Lil bridge of clear over the sig if you will.

Did that years ago with no probs yet..Kids plays the guitar too, see's some abuse...But it's never seen any elements, weather and whatnot.

Thanks Dell but that aint an option its plastered in sigs would be one hell of a sanding job, Butttttt of course if he wants to pay me a fortune anything is possible LOL.

Ahhh no room do dance around between sigs huh....Could rely on an adhesion promoter..I'd hate to, but it's an option...Maybe a hot (aggressive) enough reducer mixed with the clear would help the fresh clear burn into the old.

Some peeps spray the original job with straight laq thinner...Bites into the original paint and softens it up..So new paint will bond to it....Be risky to try though, could melt those sigs right off..LOL

Yep I thought about the lac thinner but I;m pretty sure the sigs would disapear. toooo risky.

OT I got a drawer full of cables and not one is the one I want to down load the pics, dunno what half the cables belong to. Oh well I,m sure they will come in useful one day LOL.

ok, go get the SAME KIND of pen they used.. brand etc.. thats a REQUIREMENT

go find a scrap car piece thats clear coated.. sign it and EXPERIMENT.
see what runs it, what holds it and what to not get ANYWHERE NEAR with.
