Yes you read it right! I have finally ordered my gear. I decided on the Iwata HP-C Plus and chose the Scorpion II compressor. I bought them from Blick Art and should be here by the middle of next week. I also finally chose my paint after a long period of freaking out about it. E'TAC it is. I was on the phone with Bill for about 2 to 3 hours. He is a really nice guy and took the time to explain allot about paint to me. I still have to send off the e-mail but I think I am almost there.

Now I am really excited. Is hard not to want to run out and buy up some stencils and what not just so I have something other than Daggers and dots to do. I know I should do those for a good long time but I do think I will want something just to fart around with when those drive me mad, even if only to give me some sort of break. If anyone has some Ideas for some really cool stencil sets I can buy that would help. Most of the ones I like are WAY too expensive to start out with. The skulls, the flames and the War Dogs. Is there anything else I should get right away? Also how do I know if the compressor and the AB will be compatible? I could not find any info on that? Well I am going to close but will be here on and off.

JC, you might wanna consider getting some transfer tape to do design and masking on hard surface substrates, and some blue masking tape to cover stuff up that you don't want oversprayed. You can get transfer tape several places, Coast Airbrush is a good place. I guess it depends on what you think your first "art targets" are going to be.

Stencils are fun, but pick up a sketchbook or a pad of vellum, if you are not drawing inclined, try tracing some favorite images to try in airbrush. Great starting point. You will find it more inspiring that just using stencils. That will get old really quick if you are anything like me.

Most of all, have fun!

I still have to wait for my gear and I placed and order for about $300.00 with Bill at E'TAC. I bought one of every color in their private stock line. I got a Oz, bottle of opaque white and black as well because that is what I will be starting off with. Spoke will Bill for about 3 hours last night and he is a genuinely nice person. He took the time to explain many things I just was not getting about paints not just E'TAC but the different kinds all around. I am glad he was patient lol.

I went to Blick Art and bought 5 large tablets of News print. I get all that fancy blue masking tape at work we use it to pain the aircraft. Sand Paper barrier paper and the like I get as well. I was just thinking stencils would be nice to have to just play when I was tired of the dots , daggers and what not. Just something to fool around with. I know I got more colors that I will need but I know the price of E'TAC paint is going to raise here soon and thought I better get a good base to maintain. As far as Instructional DVDs I really don't know what to get. I like the true flame and skulls and what not but I know I am far from being able to do that kind of work. I have a Statue of an Indian woman drawing water from a stream. I think I am going to use that to practice on as well. It is stone so I can scrub it clean and try again. Steel was right if you thought I asked allot of questions before just hold on to your easel's cuzz I am going to be loaded with em soon. Not to mention I finally get to go back to working the day shift so I will have a normal life schedule and be able to catch more of you on line. Thanks again for all of your help. Please feel free to e-mail me or even call if you have something to say or offer in aways guidance. 619-825-9691. Even if you just want to BS.

Blinddog has a good point about the transfer tape!!!!! But ya may be able to get what ya need for free!!!! Locate the sign shops in your area and tell them that you are just starting out in air brushing and what you need the tape for...They may have tape left over from a roll that is useless to them that they may give to you for free. P.S Once you get into URO's, hit the body shop's!!!!!! same thing....they have to pay to get rid of the "Hazardous" material's....little freebe's!!!!!!:wink2: :wink2: :wink2: :wink2: :wink2: Steel

I get my R-tape from a vinyl shop. I use to get the end rolls to get by on but found it easier to just have em order me my own roll. I use a 12" and a 36". I also go to the paint store and they give me all their mismatches.

PreMask or Transfer paper is supplied in large rolls that are cut down in to smaller "logs", to match Vinyl widths (usually 4", 10" ,14", 20", etc)

Sign supply shops are the best place to go.
ask your local Sign shop for the name of their supplier.

Cheapest method is buy a roll and have them cut it in to logs.
(Just tell them what width of logs you want)
