I've got a small 2 hp/6 gal wallyworld cheapo ($150)
and when it kicks on,,, there ain't no conversation till it quits,,,
good lil comp,, but tends to be noisy (diaphram type),,,
it's about 6 years old now,,, paid for itself many times over,,,
I really don't mind the noise,,, keeps folks at arm's distance
while you work (hahahahaha),, but it is noisy !!!

you want QUIET, then the Silentair is probably it, unless you got a garage and can do some plumbing.

There's also the option of building one yourself with a refrigerator compressor. You can find plans out there for building them if you search the web. It will also end up much being cheaper than most silent compressors that you will buy. Of course you will need a little knowledge of wiring in order to build it, but if you know how, it could provide you a great compressor. It's on my list of things to build in the coming year.

Yeah, I would agree that if you want a quiet compressor, go with silenaire or a similar type compressor. If you're a good do it yourselfer then you could try makin' one, but it's a lot easier to just buy one, but more expensive.

I have one made by Aztek (testers) its quite old but great other than only 1lt storage but is quiet. but i just finished building my own that has about a 6lt storage tank made from a pump from a fridge freezer i found dumped at work. There were two dumped and both pumps worked. it in total has cost me about £45 fron scratch but i fabricate for a job. It would have been cheaper to buy a damaged noisey compressor and just fit the pump.

I built a fridge compressor using some gutted parts from an old noisy one it works good over heats if ya spray for like 4 hors strait with it but only had it do that once but it's worth the silence
