It's going to be a LOOOONG time before I get good enough to use my airbrush on a helmet so I did my first helmet using polymerized graphite (pencil lead) I contacted someone from Pentel and they stated their lead is as archival and long lasting as anything - I also have some new lightfast colored pencils I'm going to use on another helmet - I realize not everyone will like them but thats true of any helmet or any piece of art - Just thought some of you might want to see it - DBrooker
That's real cool I think!!..good show!!
could always marry the two..you got the spiffy lines/shapes down and all, now shade in some colors with the AB.. That's how i started...I'd draw a pic..then try to color it....Just a thought.

That's pretty cool. Reminds me of the idea of that liquid lead stuff, don't know anything about it really, but sounds like something you might look into if you like doin' pencil stuff.

Thanks much for your comments - they are appreciated - Yes, I used regular Pentel leads and the surface was prepared using purple scotchbrite on a palm sander with very little pressure keeping the sander moving at all times going over the same areas 3 to 4 times - you can erase using a white eraser - another good thing is you can use a q-tip dampened with water to smooth, smear and blend the pencil lead - I'm going to use lightfast colored pencils on the next one and will post it when done - Best regards - DBrooker
