Steelhorse made me do it!
Help me choose a name please. We already have Fenris (she passed away), Bjorn, Diva, Shylow, and Thor. I don't mind much about the feminine or masculine variable, just your opinions!
THANK YOU :dog:
ˇ Fenrisúlfr
ˇ Fenrir
ˇ Hróđvitnir, 'the famous wolf'
ˇ Fenris wolf(an English translation of Fenrisulfr)
ˇ Fenrisulf (an Anglicized form)
ˇ Fenris (not found in the Old Norse sources)
ˇ Fenrisulven (modern Norwegian, Swedish and Danish form)
ˇ Fenrisúlvur (Faroese)
ˇ Fenrisúlfur (Icelandic)
ˇ Vánargand (from Skáldskaparmál)
Sköll is a wolf that chases the horses Árvakr and Alsviđr, that drag the chariot which contains the sun (Sol) through the sky every day, trying to eat her. Sköll has a brother, Hati, who chases Máni, the moon. Both are supposedly brothers/sons of Fenrir. At Ragnarok, both Sköll and Hati will succeed in their quests.
Snotra is one of the Ásynjur. Her name is clearly derived from the adjective snotr meaning "wise" or "graceful".
Jörđ (or Jarđ in Old East Norse; Earth, sometimes Anglicized Jord) is a goddess and the personification of the Earth. She is identified with Fjörgyn and Hlôdyn (Bellinger 1997:235). Jörđ is one of Odin's spouses and the mother of Asathor (Gylfaginning 9). Fjörgyn, also known as Hlôdyn "hearth" (Völuspá 47), is the mother of Thor by Odin (Völuspá 4, and by extension, Meili (Hárbarđsljóđ 9). She is daughter of Annar and Nótt and sister of Auđ and Dagr. Otherwise she is essentially unknown. Some think she may simply have been an alias of Odin's wife Frigg. In the Skáldskaparmál, however, she is called the rival of Frigg, Rindr and Gunnlod.
Garm is a huge dog which guards Hel, the land of the dead, alongside of Hrćsvelgr and living in a cave called Gnipahellir. Garm was the greatest of all dogs (excluding the Fenris Wolf). During Ragnarök, Garm and Týr will kill each other. In Völuspá, the line Geyr Garmr mjök / fyr Gnipahelli (Garm howls loud / before the Gnipa-cave) is repeated three times. After the first occurrence, the Fimbulwinter is related; the second occurrence is succeeded by the invasion of giants in the world of gods; after the last occurrence, the rise of a new and better world is described. In some descriptions Garm is giant dog with a bloodstained breast.
Geri and Freki (also spelled Gere and Freke) are a pair of wolves, companions of the god Odin. Freki translates to "Ravenous" and Geri translates to "Greed".
Freki M myth name of Odin's wolf
Gunnolf M fighting wolf
Hrolf M wolf
Hrolleif M old wolf
Trigve F meaning unknown
Valkyrie M/F guardian angel of Valhalla (the Norse underworld)
Varg M wolf (Old Norse)
Verdani F in the making; that which is happening (Old Norse)
Vor F Goddess of Wisdom (Old Norse)
Mánagarmr is another name for the wolf Hati, referring to his hunting down the moon during the Ragnarök and swallowing it. The name can be anglicized as Managarm, Mánagarm or Managarmr.
Disa Godess/active spirit
Freya/Fraya rightous woman/godess
Freya F noble woman; Goddess of Love and Seduction
Gunda female soldier
Birget F protecting; strength; power
Bestla F an ancient Frost Giantess (Norse Mythology)
Dagny F brightness/joy
Fricka F Mother of all; protectress of children (Old Norse)
Kari F pure; personification of wind (Norse Mythology)
Karita F charity; generous love (equivalent of English Charity)
Lovise F renowned warrior (feminine form of Old German/French Louis)
Rane F queen; pure

It is narrowed down by popular votes, including my families.
Rane, Freki, Disa, or Freya.
Thanks so far from everyone that has helped me and gave me some ideas. I need to name her before I go to Dru's Wednesday, so that my family doesn't call her something awful!

Prolly for the same reason I named a cat "Firetruck". I'm weird.
Actually, I just lost my Northern Timberwolf a few weeks ago. His name was Kodi, he passed away of old age. The one before that was Lakoda. He was siezed by the state DNR and destroyed.

I am soo sorry. My Bjorn is going on 14 years soon. My dad had to put Shylow down a year ago. He was 100% Mexican Grey wolf, and Maricopa County did the same thing to Bjorn's mom Fenris as they did to your Lakoda. We have had 5 now. I hear that Dru's new nighbors have a whole pack of them......I may have to go to a class and bring one home with me next year :wink2:
Aren't they the greatest dogs? It is just like having a human around LOL
BTW, yes, you are wierd...(Lemon Jello LOL).....:chase:

It was 1977 I was living in an apartment complex. I walked pass a guy who was walking a little gray dog that looked like a wolf with the lower haunches and all. It had elongated pupils!! So I asked and the dog was half wolf and half coyote.
I also had friend in high school that had a fox for a pet. He lived on a farm and his dad found it and brought it home as a pup. The fox grew up with all the other farm dogs. Well to end the story the farm dogs taught the fox to chase cars and he got run over as so many dogs do chasing cars.

I dunno. I do know that it's not legal where I live, but the only real penalty for violating the law is that they sieze the animal.
As far as our vet goes, she loves wolves and listed Kodi as a Husky mix on his records.
I can't get attachments to work on this machine today for some reason. I'll try to remember to up some pics later in the day

HAHAHA We had my dad's registered as a German Shepard mix, mine is registered as a Chow Malmute mix and an Akita and Shepard mix, and Thor (named after the God of War in Norse mythology after they killed Fenris) is registered as a Shepard mix (he is all white). Fenris wasn't liscenced, and I left the gate open one day, and our kind nieghbor decided that she would do us a favor and herd the dogs in with a baseball bat! Needless to say the moment Fenris saw her coming on to our property with her good intentions (please note all my sarchasim), and while also having her one and only puppy with her, she gave a warning bite to the nieghbor, which ripped her jeans, and scratched her skin. She called the Maricopa Animal Control after that. It took them 2 hours to get the dogs cornered in our back yard!
They left a note on the door and on the answering machine saying that they were detained until Monday moring at 9:00. We went to the facility to get them, but at 2 different locations. My brother was told that his was a wolf highbrid, and the only way to test for rabies was in her brain, as they brought him through a room where the dogs are put down to the back dock. He said he wanted her body to bring her home. They found and pulled her decapitated body in the back of a pickup truck, and put it in a garbage bag. My brother drove home alone like that! The clencher is he got Fenris 7 years and 5 days earlier (my brother's birthday) to replace the empty void of his best friend whe was decapitated on a railroad track with my brother. It was all over the news then, especially since Steven Brock was a local famous family. My brother was the one who picked up Steven's decapitated body from the railroad track. So again my brother got EVERY news station covering what happened to Fenris since he is some big Audio Visual guy. They filmed us digging Fenris' grave and all.
My brother got a lawyer, but the ONLY reason why he didn't win the case is because her name literally means WOLF in Norse mythology. Fenris wasn't liscenced. So it is soooo important that you do register and liscence them as something other than wolf. My brother wants me to paint a hairy wolf on his new Toyota truck, which he is getting at cost since he did shows for Toyoata, and wants Fenris' eyes and mask tattooed on his back. He still hurts from all of it.
Please show us your babies! Make us smile!

Shit, I've seen you post that story before, still makes me feel like crying. I don't understand how people can be so fucking stupid. Any animal would attack if someone comes at it with a bat while it has a young'un. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even know what to say, it pisses me off so much. Sorry that it happened. jeezzzzz......

Here's a couple of pics of my boy
This is Kodi in all of his fat happy glory. A lot of this is fur, but not all. He weighed in at around 110 lbs. He didn't go hungry.

Here I am shortly after that last pic, brushing him out. Thought about selling the wolf hair on ebay... wonder what it would have brought!

Firetruck found the wolf fur to be a fine place to lay down until Aleta brought out the carpet rake to clean up. (look close at the center of the pile of fur).

Thank you for making me laugh and smile!

Andereckel, we had a court order that wolf dogs were allowed to be adopted out from the pound and not destroyed after what happened to my brother, but so far they aren't complying, and the wolf dog rescue missions are still having to hurry in before they are destroyed. Corey also has had wolf dogs, and has been active in their rights. That makes 4 of us in here!!!
Thanks again for sharing with your babies. Put more up. I can never get enough of fluffer wolves! You need a new Lemon Jello LOL
