Cold cures

Completely off topic I know but, both myself and the wife have raging colds and I was wondering if any of you know any good cures?. Normaly I would just take some paracetamol and curl up till it goes away, but this one seems worse than any I've had for a while.

No before anyone says it, its not Bird flu!!!..

Beechams an off to bed drink lots of fluids.

Move to Spain, doesnt cure colds but ya dont feel so bad when the suns shining.

Zinc tablets always cut a cold's duration for me. If I catch it when the symptoms first start and overload on Zinc, sometimes it'll go away without ever even really developing.

Don't get tricked into these "homeopathic remedies" like Cold-Eze and the like. All they are is massive doses of Zinc, and you can buy zinc tablets in the vitamin aisle for about 1/10th the cost brand names "remedies" in the cold remedy aisle. You get the exact same effect except your wallet stays fatter.

Ron's right, Zinc is a big help...so is Vitamin C...& congestion can be eased by using a saline nasal spray.
I'm so sorry she's sick...hope she feels better soon.

for cough I take a tsp of honey better than cough medacine taste alot better too!! As for a cold Haven't had one for about 5 years.. Not sure why I"m always around people with colds..

if i feel a bad throat coming on i find gargling with fresh orange helps a lot.
but seen as you've already got the cold how about having a bath in some?

My grandmother always gave us a small glass of brandy and honey. I don't know if it made the cold go away but we didn't care thats for sure.

That's amazing, I take an adult multivitamin and a zinc tablet every morning, have for years. Not a cold in years.

Tomcat, once you have it, no cure, just have to ride it out, tea with whisky, stay warm, any good analgesic tablets, thats pretty much it.

I think its finally starting to burn out( Oh god I hope so...), got up this morning feeling like death, by midday was feeling better, tonight I'm feeling better again. Could it just be a lull in the storm??
