I just finished choosing which AB DVD's to order. I chose these:
Watson Guptill Bk Color Mixing Bible( Book)
AB Action DVD Advanced Portrait Painting
AB Action DVD Basic Portrait Techniques
AB Action DVD How to AB Caricatures
AB Action DVD Killer Klown
AB Action DVD Pin-Ups Made Easy with DEBORAH%20MAH
AB Action DVD Top Pro Stencil Technique
AB Action DVD Pro Airbrush and Paintbrush
AB Action DVD Illustration Cheap Tricks
Are there any other instructional typed DVD/ Books that you might suggest?
Any of these that you would not reccomend? Or ones you especially liked or found useful?
Now just so everyone knows I am not expecting worlds of information nor to gain some huge skill boost from these. However, until I am able to take a class I will use resources like these the best I can. not to mention the stacks of paper I have printed out with tips/tricks and lessons learned from all fo you.

I have also been looking into getting some dvd's to aid my learning. Classes in my area are hard to come by, and I can usually pick things up pretty quickly just by watching it being done, so I will probably use some of uncle Sam's refund and invest in a few. Just not sure which ones. Let us know if any of your selections are worth a look at.

ive got "the complete guide to motorcycle murals" which is also an AB Action DVD.
i think calling it the complete guide is a bit of a cheek as it doesnt say much about the preperation or finish. but watching him create the image is very informative.
i also quite like "More Automotive Cheap Tricks and Special FX"

The only DVD's that I own are anything form Blake Mcully and Steve Driscoll <- hope that's the right spelling. I have access to pretty much whatever dvd's I want for ABing as I demo stuff for the art store I teach at. These are the only ones I found worth actually buying. Now if you want to expand your Image Library i'd suggest picking up a few of the Spectrume books, they have some of the top fantasy artists in the world.

I also bought all 3 Skullmaster DVD's but was only disapointed that they did not come with the stencils he was showing how to use in the video. Everyone needs to make some cash i guess.

Hey JC, I think Lynne was talking about the Skullmaster DVD, doesn't even come with the stencils. So, make the best of it and watch how the Fraser Hog is actually spraying into stencils period. Glean what you can from it. Don't run out and buy the stencils, please.
Honestly, most of what you got are fine, will teach lots if you watch and practice. As far as stencils, try to steer clear, you're better off developing your own style eventually...

These AB videos are only available on VHS, but still have some good information. They're from Airbrush Action.
Advanced Illustration
Mark Fredrickson (140 min)
Learn to create a portrait the “Fredrickson” way. Using a loose mask, airbrush, and paintbrush, render hair, skin, and facial features. Add detail to your artwork through advanced highlighting techniques using a razor knife and electric razor.
Airbrushing On Canvas
Noah (51 min)
Noah shows you how he renders his larger-than-life B&W portraits. Applications range from illustration to fine art to T-shirts

I would suggest Mike Learns DVD's. Those are awesome and they come with the stencils he uses, since you mentioned it, or someone did, wasn't quite paying attention.......... Anyway, yeah, Mike Learns DVD's.

i've seen Skullmaster 1 and 2 on the net. i thought 1 was ok. gave you a bit more general info. but number 2 was rubbish. neither of them were worth buying tho IMO unless you've bought the stencils and are a total numty about how to use them. lol
