Can anyone post a step by step on how to render Blue Lightning I've checked out a few Members Gallery samples which are amazing.I've tried a couple attempts, but nothing really pops out like some of the gallery photos. Rickster

The method is the same as doing it in white, you just have to remember that what makes the lightning stand out is the contrast between the white of the lightning and the dark background color.

If you are going to add the lighting to a dark background, then you need to do it in white first, then add the blue (or any other color) on top of it. The background color will tint the colors that lay on top of it, so you need to lay down an opaque white base for your color to sit on so that it will "pop" when you are done.

Blue lightning is pretty easy once you get the technique down. Fontgeek hit on most of the technique I use. First I lay down the opaque white keeping the airbrush an inch or two away from the surface allowing a little over spray and making a loose pattern. Then go over that with a transparent or candy blue. Third: Use the opaque white to paint the detailed lightning. From this point it's up to the artist whether or not to mist over the white again with the transparent blue to tint it (which seems to be the norm) thus allowing you to add the final highlights/hot spots with the opaque white.

Here's one I did for practice about a month ago. Sorry if the pic is fuzzy, but will (hopefully) help you see what I've been talking about.

Get Jiggy widdit!

I like to do the blue as described above, then do a semi-tight white inside it, tint that with a touch of yellow candy and then do the tighty-whitey lines over that.

OR...you can forgo the jiggle and you'll get the yellow part anyway! heheheeee!!

Thats really cool Skids! I like that method...
although I gotta say, I prefer boxer briefs over tighty-whitey's...
now that should be a thread all by itself!!
