After a long time away from the painting scene, I'm interested in messing with it again.
I still have a Binks Model 7.
Are they obsolete now?
If not, what is it good for shooting?

Hey Carson, thanks for droppin' by! I don't know!! I have used Binks paint guns, but don't know their airbrushes. How about some specs, then we can tell, needle size, etc., etc.,

This is a belly feed paint gun.
I used to spray laquers and enamels really well about 20 years ago.
OOPS. Showing my age alittle.
It's one of those things I couldn't part with.
Now it's probably a dinasour.

This isn't an airbrush.
There's a QT cup under it.

Hehe, oops, I should have seen, duh, "Model 7". This is a good gun, probably still parts can put it back in shape. What do you intend to paint?

Yep,, That's the gun.
I'm guessing that it's an old school gun by todays standards.
I'd does still spray good.
It was in a cabinet for about 15 years till a year ago.
Shot a tank and some fenders and decided maybe I'd like
to do alittle painting again.
I've been doing alittle airbrushing and seem to have recaught the
painting bug.
Things have changed since the enamel and lacquer days.

Carson, first off welcome. & no there far from obsolete I have 5 of them & They work fine for todays stuff , as far as parts go, ( allthough theres nuthing that can go wrong with them ) I,m not sure if You can still get them, But I,d bet so.

Some Guys say there not good for some of the new high solids clears, But I,ve painted most everything with mine & no problems. But I sure wish they,d bring back the laquers. I still have some I use from time to time Just fot the memories. Anyway You should be fine with the #7, hell I still use My binks Wren from time to time. Maybe I,m osbsolete. Cowboy

I painted my Z28 about 8 years ago, after many year of not painting.
With that binks.
I used base/clear lacquer system.
The guy at the store told me that lacquer was old school then.
But since I had always used it in the day, that's what I went with.
Them about a year ago, I told a guy I work with that
I messed with an an air brush and used to do alot of painting,
he recruited me to paint his Harley. with Uro's.
Seemed to do well.
Now I'm painting mine.
It's a slow restart but it's never too late to rehash old hobbies.
The Binks is the only gun I still have.

well my dad has the old binks #7 , i have a hvlp and other gravity fed guns, but when i was using house of kolor urethanes, i kept gettin the tiger stripe with the other guns.. i finally got tired of trying adjust the freakin guns n opted for the old binks #7, whether they are old school or what, its my favorite after spraying urethanes with it.. i intend to buy a new one. the #7 although after 16 hours of spraying on myc ar with the thing it does crimp my wrist pretty bad, i had to end up using both hands spraying with it.. but my experience. i have not one compliant witht he #7, in fact the old man sprays nothing but lacquers n acrylic enamels.. i use it to spray urethanes, and big flakes with it,
it lays metallics and pearls down like u was slicing butter with a hot knife.
i wouldn't trade it for nothing..although you have these newer peep say iwata or sata but i find myself going back to the binks #7 it surprasses my expectations.
it shoots urethanes, enamels, high solid clears, i shot high solid urethane clear with flakes in it, plus pearls, candies, shoot anything imagineable i'd sprayed in the gun, its given me 200%. if i were you, i'd clean that gun up real good n use it, cause to my idea, u got a great gun in your hands. if you want pics of my stuff i'd sprayed using the binks #7, message me, i have an online album full of pics. laters

I started with a Binks 7 24 years ago and have a real hard time changin. You can find the repair kit on ebay, I think auto body depot. If you're doin bikes I really like the Iwata LPH 100.
