Is it possible to buy stale or bad Createx paint? I am blowing down some Opaque Blue, and I CANNOT get it to behave. Using one of my HP-C Pluses, I tried it straight up, its like pancake syrup, spit, clog, spit, clog......

Diluted it 4 to 1 with water, strained it, no change. Took my pressure up to 45 then 50 then 55 lbs, still, spit, splat, clog.......

Tore the gun completely apart, soaked the nozzle, cleaned every component, back together, sprayed a little Uro through it, the gun is fine and working as expected. Tried some Createx opaque white, working fine. Put the blue in, sputter, clog, splat.....WTF??? Can this stuff actually go bad?

Any suggestions appreciated, trying to finish a simple t-shirt so I can get back to my motorcycle job..... its killin' me!:devil-smiley-033:

With my experience, I generally stay away from opaque colors. Only use black and white. I do mainly t-shirt Abing so I keep the psi at about 60ish. I do own some opaque colors but generally it's easier to spray white then use transparent blue for me. I have noticed if opaque colors sit to long, the white pigment (that makes it opaque) will start to settle at the bottom, hence if your using fast blast caps, it will suck all of that up first.
Try stirring the paint maybe?

Thanks Kling, it was stirred, and strained. I just went and blew a cup full of white through the same gun, perfect, tight fine lines, no probs. Seems so strange.

So, I tried using extender base to extend it out. Helped enough to get in through the gun, but not happy with the results. I will use your rule of thumb and spray transparents now.

Dog, Ive had Createx, Aqua Flow etc... all go bad on me. Ive actually had mold form on the top if they sit to long after opening. :smilie_barf: I just had close to the same thing with some Aqua flow brite blue. I hadnt used it for weeks and weeks, I went to use it this mornin and nothin but goop. played with some water and tip flow, retarder etc shook the hell outa it. finally got it to spray a little, but once its replaced, its in garbage. :)

I had some ComArt Blue (Cerulean) go bad on me, it separated into this grainy weirdness. It happens, from time to time, so I'm told.

Thanks guys & gal, that must be it. I just blew down some brown, black and yellow, all flowed like water. Only the blue, so I guess it is oxidizing or something, very odd, but I notice, I bought in on sale, so its probably really old...... since everything else flows through the brush flawlessly, it must be bad paint. Just my first experience with that, outside Urethanes, I have had pre-reduced stuff go bad.....
