Hi everyone! I survived Dru's Airbrush Boot Camp! I can't even begin to tell you waht an experience it was......... I was introduced to his Color Buffer theory and new techniques to airbrushing. I need to go back some more to hopefully let it sink in and use it's applications. He is an amazing man. He not only is knowledgeable in airbrushing, art, printing, and the list goes on and on, but he also shows concern for you to take in as much as you can, hence the Dru's Airbrush Boot Camp name was what I called it because we work into the wee hours of the morning just to get a fraction of what he knows! Unbelievable! It Is So Damn Easy for Dru LOL
Her are some pics. It got crazy as you can see because we became close and a bit loonier than normal after lack of sleep.

I've always heard great things about Dru's classes... glad you had a great time, would love to see what you did while you were there.
That colour theory stuff is a LOT of info to absorb in one shot, I've read it twice via his web site...and it still hasn't sunk in yet.

I studied some theories that are simaliar to it in Sensation & Perception about how we see color based on the additive and subtractive principles based on inhibition & excitation concerning our rods and cones, plus taking the class, and I still feel that I was JUST introduced to it. I think he puts it out there not just for the public, but mainly for his students to refer to as a refresher reference in case we forget the rules LOL

So, Karinne, how's about a little text to describe what we're seeing? The grape on the toothpick thing, is that an exercise, or is it just lunch, LOL?

I'd like a full run down on the food photos. How was the workshop??
Augie is one of Dru's assistants, Daryle and Melanie are his other main assistants, especially Melanie, she can tell Dru what to do LOL (just kidding), anyways, Augie and Daryle specialize in automotive and are there to answer questions on that matter as well, plus they are all very reliable on Dru's methods. Augie is the "extrovert" in the bunch, Mel has the best comebacks, and Daryle is the quite gentle one, so since I am more like Augie, and after very little sleep on the last days, we all by now know each other at a comfort level where we get a bit sillier than normal.
The workshop was filled with so much "new" information that Dru lets us stay for as long as we can stand it, he has sooo much stamina! :hail: I feel that even after coming back more than 3 times there is still NEW information to be had, as some of his students had retuned up to 5 times. I wonder if we could consider them groupies. LOL :threesome:

No, that is an LCD Plasma screen hooked up to a camera on Dru's work station so we can view it from 4 different locations from the room close up!!!!

Thanks, that clears that up. Now one more question. I am terribly new to airbrushing, so could you tell me Dru's last name and perhaps a link to his work and workshops?

Right on, I'll check them out.
I was reading Pamela Shanteau's book this evening.
I liked his article on stickling he called "The Skeet Technique" in the February Air Brush Action. I picked up a copy while I was out. We are blessed with two large bookstores in the Tacoma WA area. The tech should prove quite useful and fun to execute. I especially like that he mentioned a few alternative ways to achieve this visual texture technique. He is obviously an excellent educator.
Did he ever say why he has stuck to the side feed over gravity, if its because of line of sight or because he thought it slowed him down a bit??

That is funny. I was told about the inside joke about that. You might find it in a website that has definitions pertaining to sex. HAHAHAHA
Dru likes the side cup for several reasons, but the biggest one I heard was that it allows his finger to have greater comfort control in the trigger without the cup being in the way, plus it allows for better sight for point of aim, where as the gravity cup will be in the way. Plus the gravities tend to use more paint. If you take Dru's class, you have an opportunity to buy the gun that you are working with for a great price! I was tempted, but I would MUCH rather invest in another class instead of buying another gun. I have all gravities, but they work just fine for now.
