I started a little project for myself and wanted to have some feedback on painting BLOOD. My idea is having blood dripping from the top of the panel onto the object, dripping down that and pooling at the bottom of the panel.

Never done it before but need to challenge myself so any info or ref pics would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.....

I tried searching for blood pics and the best pic I found was this one. Hope it helps.

Hi Mike,

The one thing I have done in the past to render blood is to not try and keep it too bright. There needs to be a dark tone to it to give it that rich red color. I would put down some bright red and then add black to my mixture a little bit at a time until I got the color I wanted. Here is the only pic of blood I have. You can see how dark it can be. Although dripping blood will be a bit brighter because it hasn't started to dry.

Good luck, Steve.

This is a day late, and a dollar short....but I had a nice look with AA's bright red candy over white. A few layers of it and I had a lovely rich colour.

Mike my 2 cents!! The colors could be different depending on the person and if their healthy or not so color it not always a simple red! Also blood coagulates and clots unless your a hemophilic so you might want to render some of the blood coagulating! Just some thoughts!

As it was already stated, I think I'm a day late and a dollar short. Here's the example I posted for you on ab.com some months back. The blood dripping from the top of the computer panel was just a little something I added to take up dead space, but was quite pleased with the results. Hope it helps someone.
