A couple of pictures of some display brushes I have made over the past several years.First ones were made of some left over 1"dowel and some pine shim stock wrapped with electrical wire.Made a lettering brush out of a piece of dowel 3 feet long.Another out of a piece of 1/2 plywood. The last are made from 1/2" thick optical grade Lexan(an old piece of a hockey arena window). These were finished up tonight. There is also the pic of the hood ornament(lighted)for my 55 Pontiac wagon.

Like that stuff! do you market it at all? that one could be used as a weapon! If you worked in metal you could make a set of throwing brushes!

Thank you for the kind words.I did make some to sell at one time but now basically just give them to friends. This particular batch will be made into trophies, pins, and necklaces.
I have made several prototype knives from Lexan but strictly for my own collection.Have been collecting knives since I was 10.I've also made a few knives but none in the shape of a brush.Maybe I'll grab some aluminum and carve out a couple(like I really need more projects!:)

Hey Ray, was wondering if you'd post up a finished pic of the 'hot brush holder'
:D
I've seen it else where complete but can't find the WIP pic you posted a week or so ago to ask there so figured here was good ~

Carlene:
If you are referring to my newest pith helmet/teapot,it still isn't quite finished yet.I posted a pic of it on the Pinhead Lounge site, but if you like here's a couple of the newest ones. The brush handles have been sanded down and fitted to the sloppily drilled holes I made(drilling Bakelite is difficult;the drill wants to walk everywhere)and superglued in place. The little green critter may or may not make the final cut.BTW the brushes I used were obtained from the Mack Brush Co.(about 40 mi.from my home)as rejected ones so no brushes were really harmed during the making of this hat.
I haven't really given a lot of thought to the rest of it yet as I've been kind of busy lately.Just finished up a vintage fire truck and a 56 Ford pickup last week and have a couple new trucks to do this week.

No Carlene;actually the original truck was a Ford 900 series COE of 1960's vintage. They removed the water tank(3000 gallon)and utility boxes as a unit(people said it couldn't be done but Brian doesn't know that word)and installed them on a modified Freightliner COE.The frame was extended about 14 ft. to accomplish this.Brian specializes in restoring vintage trucks and fire engines(I've done a half dozen for him)and the next job will be the lettering and striping on a 1936 International crew cab(supposedly the only one in existence)that he has been working on for several years now.About half of the cab is totally new fabrication. Will definitely get pictures of this one.
Nice work!...Spiffy thread indeed.:headbang:....Thanks fer showin Smi7th
