Got this one today and he's supposed to bring the other this week (when the rest of the parts he ordered come in)

This is one I painted before....http://www.airbrushtech.info/AIRBRUSH/forum/showthread.php?t=12976

1st it's nice to see how a job holds up after some abuse...he said this things flipped and cartwheeled countless times at over 70mph....Still lookin purty sexy I must say...lol

29137

Now he wants these lil metal defectors gone...the 5 chrome pieces here.

29138

Be a pain to match that orange..was a crazy mix of pearls and Kandy I think...So he agreed it'd be easier (and cooler) to just add some Airbrushin over the spots....Said it's up to me, stripes, whatever.........I'm thinking maybe a ripped checkered flag starting from the front lip, waving back....The white and black checkers will fit the color scheme well....But open for any brain farts ya'll have:D

That lowest scoop on the left has a hole through the hull under it..So that has to be filled..Will be a few days getting everything smoothed and ready..Any idea's on some graphics, yell at me!!!..lol

Had to share that action pic with my FB friends. So when I say in my profile that I'm into RC boats, They know I'm not talking about the Toys R Us variety. LOL.
That's the reason I bought my first airbrush to start with.

Yeah not the "toy" version for sure..LOL....I know he just paid $500 for that green Hull..Engine and all is separate...I think he said the engine in that "insane" boat was $600 or so.

Here's todays fun..Popped (cut actually) those fins off...Cleaned, Sanded as level as I could with 80 grit...Cleaned again.

Then fiberglassed the hole and Bondo'd the other spots to get em more level.

Look like a fine start indeed Bryon.
one quetion tho, you sayd that you try to save looking for a mach for this orange, what will you do after sanding the bondo? or you planing to do some airbrushing directly on the fix?

Yeah getting a match on the orange would be hard..So I'm just going to Airbrush something over the spots.

Yeah so far the checkers, ripping flag vibe is the best lightbulb flicker I got...If nothing else pops up anytime soon, that will be the go to fun..lol

Being such a big area it kinda rules out doing any beveled tribals. I'm thinking the checkered flags might be your best bet. To bad the area wasn't bigger, you could paint Hannible Lector on the front lol! MP

I binned the tribal idea as well becuase of where/how it needs to flow over, lol tiger stripes.

Hey Dell you have some work cut out for ya..
have an Idea for ya.. what about water waves flowing over
the boat.. in place of Flames..

ABD
11-07-2009, 07:19 PM
I like that wave idea Sharon!!....Would be easier than checkers too..lol...Only thing is the colors...water just wouldn't look right without blue in it and blue just wouldn't go with the scheme me thinks.

Here's some updated progress...Gonna put some shadows under the lettering....He doesn't want them highlighted or messed with in any way, just plain...Figure I'll at least sneak shadows in..lol

Ya'll thought I was done with this huh....Me too:unsure:

Feller dropped off another canopy when he picked the boats up....(For the Green boat)...He wanted this one white...Soooooo, I lazied around it for a day or 2 and knocked it all out today:D.......Luckily I save all my cut out letters, never know when you'll need them again and I sure as hell don't want to cut the same thing twice!!.....he left 2 canopies actually, one was brand new and needed everything cut out (vents, etc) other was cracked from where someone else tried to cut out said vents..lol...I went with the new one cuz I didn't want to wait for fiberglass to harden, fixing the other one.

Anywho, easy one.....Funny he mentioned words and I cringed a bit...Mind starts racing, I say "hey what about green words to match the boat"....His eyes lit up "yeah, that'd be awesome if ya could"....hehehee, It's already green and I know I have my "positive" letting waitin for me....."Sure no prob", I say.... Schweeeet!:headbang:

Great job ABD. What paint did you use on these boats. You mentioned in some of my threads that you use uros and for wb you use Golden. Is that the Golden Acrylics?

Thanks

Scott

The Orange base coat was House of Kolor (Uros)...The big Insane lettering was with "one shot"...And the other lettering and flag was done with Goldens...(yup Goldens Airbrush Acrylics).

Then cleared with regular automotive urethane.

Yup, bit O job security there..hahaa...Already repaired many a chunk taken out of em..He says they've all flipped at 70+ mph and still hold up good though....Just those collisions with random things that do the damage..lol
