Ok! I have question. Do we have any special areas or tools other than the How To Articles area to produce at length How To editorials.

We removed that Article work area when we started streamlining the forum Robert...
The best thing for you to do is to use a word processor to layout all your text, and copy all that into your thread post using "Go Advanced" format....Have all your pictures renamed in order and ready when you start your specific How To thread.....You will have 1 hour to edit each post you make.....
It will also help your how to readability (for other's viewing) very much if you learn beforehand how to put your pictures inline with your instructional text....
You can learn how to do that here in this thread....

Having your pictures named in order is critical for easy insertion inline with text.....

I will give you time to read this Robert and then I will move these posts to a new thread in Forum Help Desk for when you may have other questions regarding this....

The Article Work Area was the first thing on my hit list when we started revamping this site Robert. It had become nothing more than a Viking slave ship where the slave masters cracked whips to keep everybody rowing in unison so that articles could be whipped out for the next magazine issue (which never came).
I have no problem starting up a forum for you guys to work on stuff behind the scenes where you can generate how tos and complex step by steps. I can set it so only you and staff can see what you're doing. In other words it will be private in the sense that all that anybody can see is that there is a thread started in there by somebody, but nobody other than the thread starter or staff can read it or reply to it. I can set it up so it can be edited for as long as you want. When you're ready, you can ask a staff member to move it to a public forum. I have no problem with doing that... but the taste that was left in my mouth from the way the previous Article Work Area was handled was bad, and you can well on bet, it won't be handled that way again.

Well I set it up. It's the last forum in The Member Zone... "Private Work Area". You guys check it out and let me know if it's working right. You should be able to see that other people's threads exist, but not read them, and you should have an unlimited time to edit your own threads. If these are not working as expected, let me know and I'll fix them.

I think I need to change the name of the forum though, because it's not really private. Staff can see anything that anybody has posted and will be prepared to help with any issues you need handled as far as prepping your how to or in progress pics to go live.
Carlene has suggested the name Work In Progress, and I think that's a fine name. What do you guys think?

I'd think most any name would be fine.......Just put a sticky in there explaining to folks them and staff are the only ones who can see.

Sounds good to me.
hmmmmmmmm is it only visible if you ask for access........

It,s Just a werk Area Andy , You should have access to it , But theres nothing to see unless You make a thread , Then You are the only one that can see it other then staff , That way it wont be interupted untill You say its done .
Main reason for that is when You are done & want it brought to the open forums , one of Us can move it for You . CB

Hi CB, yeh realised that, was just looking to see where it was under the members grouping but couldn't see it anywhere, that is why I was wondering if you only see the work area if you request it.

Sorry about that Andy. Didn't realize anybody actually used the forum jump menu so I didn't think to add it. It's there now, and has been renamed "Work In Progress". Not sure a sticky would do much good in that forum since I don't think anybody could see it but the author, but we'll give it a shot. Let me know if it shows up for you.
