Here is my first helmet ever. Worked with Auto Air paints. Metallic copper base coat with cherry red candy over. Then painted the brain pattern free hand.

Heres a few pics taken at various steps during this past weeks work.

Have to get it cleared now!!

Have to say thanks to Clinton for giving greta help and advice...thanks Clinton!!

Nice work Luc and glad to see you posting the process again.

I build to much in the wrong areas and to see the process helps to see what I am off on. I'll eventually catch on with help like this.

Nice, but like I said in another thread, watch out for the people staring.

Thanks.

Thanks Clem but I wont be wearing it!!!..Dont own a bike! plus its a novelty helmet. I did this to lurn on how to work with AA paints plus curved surfaces. Also, helps to have some examples to show on my Web page.

Thanks again.

As I've said looks great Luc, I'm glad you got the paint all sorted out. It'll really pop once the clear goes on.

I was also wondering about the type of tape. If I don't clear my base coats I always end up with som paint pulling up.

Thank you all for your comments!

I'm not into brains myself! LOL. Since I'm not into skulls or fire (at least not yet) short of painting a helmet with a solid color, this is the best I could come up with.

I think I'm hook on painting helmets!!! I'm working on some designs for my next helmet. Its going to be a helmet with a the Budweiser beer theme so my objective now is to get the AA paint to flow thru my smaller airbrushes in orther for me to get the small details in. So far, things are looking great, I'm able to paint some white AA paint bthru my Custom Micron C+!!

Will be posting my practice piece soon.

Thanks again!

Well since my last post, I can now get get the AApaint thru my micron to get some portrait work on some helmets!!!:clapping2:

Anyway, here is a few pics of my cleared helmet without the trim installed at the edge. I want to give it a quick wet sand with some 1500 paper then get 2 other coats of clear to get rid of the small inperfections. I'm happy with the results, you guy, were right, it does jump out at you once you have it cleared. I got used to looking at a dull finish!

Once cleared, I can see where I did not put down enough piant over the candy around the perimeter of the brain. It kind of accentuates the small mistakes so I'll have to keep a close eye out for this in the future.

I found someone to clear my stuff about 3 blocks from my house which is very good!
