Whit, you never cease to amaze me. I've known you for all these years now, and somehow you still seem to be able to keep things fun.
Scorpion, I love those sketches. Critters are my best friends for the most part, and a good critter sketch gets on my emotions better than you can imagine. We'll be starting the first annual Kitty Kristmas Karol parade here sometime after the US celebrates Thanksgiving, so get your Kids to write their Karols and draw their pics.

Thanks bigwater, i find drawing and painting animals very calming and much easier than drawing the human form :D.
will keep my eyes peeled for the Kitty Kristmas Karol parade!
p.s: the brindle Bulldog is actually our own pet, i took the ref photo not long after our old Bulldog died :( (he was 12 y.o !!) she seemed to fret for him for ever and this pic captured her thoughts...

Not much in the way of new stuff this week;mostly re-hashes on factory stripes, but it keeps the wolves away from the door anyway.Going through some old pictures I came up with these. The first series is of a flame job I did for a friend of mine back in 1974.Not strange in itself but for the fact that it was sprayed in his living room!
Charlie had a garage but no heat in it so come winter time his bike projects were built in the living room.Needless to say his wife Cheryl wasn't exactly thrilled about this.
The T roadster was started in the summer and then with the onset of winter was, after disassembly, moved to the living room.I was then called in to do the flames.I had just finished doing a flame job on a Ford pickup using regular(alklyd)enamel and as the base on the T was enamel it was decided to use this.Another friend had showed me a neat trick for blending alklyd paints by heating the unthinned paint in the color cup on a hot plate and just as it began to bubble installing the gun and laying it down.Goes on smoothly;dries quickly and can be blended almost like regular lacquer.Bear in mind this was before urethane based paints were readily available.
Anyway I lay out the flames, mask and then shoot the base yellow.Reload and overpaint the orange and then the red.Had to re-do the grille shell as the paint fisheyed a bit(wipe off and re-shoot)but it blended in nicely.
As you know enamel overspray is the most difficult to remove.EDIT:make that IMPOSSIBLE to remove.Cheryl says she is still finding overspray around the house even after 35 YEARS!Needless to say I'm not too high on her Christmas card list.
Anyway here are the pictures of the job.I didn't even know Charlie had taken these and one day they show up in the mail. The pic of me taping was about 100 lbs.ago.
The second is the first car I ever striped that was featured in a car magazine(Hot Rod November 1963)and striped in 1961.I'll relate the story of that one sometime.

Skids - Cool dragon...looks like the photo doesnt do it justice, going by all the metallic flakes goin' on..
Smi7th - great nostalic photos... love the finished product. that pic would make for a nice poster print..
