I know I haven't been doing much posting... lota lurking... but it is hard to type a reply with new baby in hand.
Things have settled down here a little and I finally got a chance to try my new etac paints and I just wanted to say WOW that stuff is nice! I fiddled with it for over an hour and had no spitting, sputtering or tip dry. It was amazing. I had to laugh at myself though... I found that even though there wasn't any tip dry It was an unconscious reaction to keep cleaning the tip!! lol
Hopefully I will find more time to post and paint in the near future... Good day all!

If your used to Auto Air for hard surfaces watch the Etac, it is very easy to scratch or rub off before topcoating. When they shipped me the first stuff in Canada I made the mistake of treating as I would the Auto Air. Ruined about 3hours of work just by wiping it down to get rid of any dust ect that had settled in the process. It's all sitting on my shelf since, will never be used but it smells not bad kinda fruity like their slogan.:roll1:

Thanks for the heads up! I am not sure if I will be using alot of etac in my shop or not.. I just had to order some to see if it really was as nice as everyone had been saying. I actually like my AAs and don't really have too much trouble with it any more. I just clean the tip and keep on squirting.

Babies doing great, thanks for asking... though I can't wait for her to actually start sleeping at night. This three hours a night stuff is KILLING me! lol
I plan on testing the etac on everything I paint on to see how it hold up to my other paints. So far I have only used it on a canvas and I really like how it flows.

In reading this Im assuming you were using the efx500. This is rewettable for reworking. The private stock which can be used on hard surfaces as well as textiles does not smudge or wipe off with out alot of work.

Hey Red, E'TAC is the most environmentally friendly paint out there, so you are being a super mom by using it around you and your baby. I finally had a chance to try it while at Dru's, along with Aero Flash, and they both had verly little dry tip and problems. We were painting ALL DAY TOO! I never once had to tear down the gun, just occasionall give it a flush or two, and that was in a period of 4 DAYS!!!! Love the paint!

Nope the both, who cares. Not getting into another Flame war.

To minimize the re-wetting of the EFX, i give it a quick spray of either AA trans base or a 50/50 mix of the EFX base and the P.s. base (can't recall thier names off hand) Both work just fine. For me, it just depends on which bottle is closer. lol.
I just switched to Etac after using AA and PPG envirobase, and IMO, it's better than either of those two. There is NO tip dry, no straining, and only very, very rarely do i need to thin the paint at all. The PPG is pretty close in sprayability, but the colors don't seems to have the same "pop", plus it's water borne, not water based, so there are still some VOC's, though they are very minimal.
I did a comparison between all three over at the "drama forum" if anyone wants to take a look. I think the title of the post was "AA vs. PPG vs. ETAC" and author "draggin81"

There's the link to the post. I'm not trying to promote the "drama forum" here, just sharing the occasional useful information that comes around between hissy fits and flame wars
