Spent the past weekend in Detroit at the Annual Pinstripers Jamboree charity panel jam. There were between 150 and 200 stripers from across the country that came to donate their time and talents to both put on a show forthe public and create many wonderful one of a kind art pieces to be auctioned off for the Rainbow Connection which is a Michigan based make a wish type foundation. All together we were able to raise $56,000 to help out sick childern.
I got the opportunity to meet Lynne aka Colourshift. She was working in the Sata booth doing a demonstration panel over the weekend. I promised her that I would not post the pictures I took of her or the piece she did but let me tell you that she is a talented artist and a nice person! The picture of the flamed mailbox is an example of her painting skills. She did the base coat in black them layed out a nice set of flames in blue. She gave me the honor of outlining the flames in a "slime" green pinstripe. It was then donated to the auction where it brought in over $50 I thouight it should have gone for more but the prices were typical of auctions where some that you thought would only get a few dollars went high and others went for pennies on the dollar! Oh well that is the way it goes.
All in all it was a tiring but wonderful weekend. I would encourage anyone that has a chance to participate in something like this do so. I have been going now for the last three years and have been able to develop some lasting friendships with people I might not otherwise have met.
Enjoy the photos.
