I did this today as a demo piece. Went and showed it to a guy I know that rides with the local Harley group.
He ordered one on the spot :partyalone: :partyalone: :partyalone: He is getting the Vest later this week.
It took me 2 hours to do and I,m thinking about 60 Euro's thats roughly $80.
Is this to much ? to little ? I realy have no idea.
I'm hoping to get more jobs from the others in his group so dont wont to mess up on the pricing.

Oh the local Harley shop sells waistcoats with prints on starting from 150 Euro's thats nearly $200.

how big is it, how long did it take you to do it? and do you feel the price is worth it? Anyway it IS EXCELLENT WORK, i cant wait till i see those results in my stuff, maybe raise the price a little bit, since they can only get it cheaper from you, and your is more of a personal custom touch? I would say it depends on time, amount of effort, size?

also you dont want to be taken for a sucker, i get that a lot because i dont know if my work is good enough to sell at high prices, and than i wonder if everyone is wanting it, maybe it is? SO its tricky, plus you ll have other customers lined up, i would raise it a little more but staying below the harley shop price, youll keep them coming back with images like that!!:auto003:

Michael, once again, It,s great work. The thing I,ve found is that If Someone wants sumpthin that anyone can have They,ll go for the store bought.

I would suggest if Yer thinking about doing several, Charging more, whatever the market will bare, BUT Change the design every so many & # them within Yer signature. & limit the amount of each design. this way it,s kind of like limited edition prints But originals . & theres hundreds of different poses for a design like that to make it unique , allthough more of a pain for You. & the customer feel like their getting sumthing special therefore worth the extra bucks. Justa thought. Its worked for Me in the past. Cowboy

looks great.. good luck with sales.. I think if the store is getting $200 dollars I would atleast charge $150.00 you are still less and they are getting an original

I like your thinking. Maybe 10 to each design.
I think Im gonna start charging at 80 euro ($105) 40 per hour.
I will do a portfolio of designs, so I know my hours to do each one. This way I will have made any stencils needed. (I only use paper outline stencils, so thats easy enough)

what ya think?

Too cheap Frog, I reckon it's worth double that, but if you can knock them out and it's regualr work, take it my friend while the going's good.
'

You posted while I was typing,,,,,,, this pricing thing is a nightmare.
I guese I should be think that these guys dont have a problem buying expensive bits for there bikes and SO they shouldnt have a problem paying for my QUALITY WORK and years of self training,( not gonna tell them I have only been doing it a few months).
Hmmmm and there is not anyone else doing AB work around here.

OK I am convincing myself I'm worth more LOL.

Frog, will all due respect, your work is very good. I couldn't be bothered for less than $ 100 per hour plus materials cost..... simple rule of thumb. This will not drive business away, but in the long run, will enhance it, for the right reason. You are producing good work, and only your modesty is inviting patronage, not your great skill. Get a couple of these out, but if it took 2 hours, its easily worth $ 200. Hell, I would pay that easily for work of your caliber.....

I charge 1 dollar a minute... makes it easy.. If it took you two hours 200 and you will get faster as you go, if you hook up with a store and you do multiples then you can figure out a slightly cheaper price.. but I would go with $1 per minute.

Wow thanks guys you have definatly helped boost my confidence.
I,m settling on 120 euro, as I am not sure the market would go for much more.
So that is setting my hourly rate at 60.
Each design I do I will time and set my price accordingly.
Any one offs not from the portfolio will be charged differently, giving me the oppertunity to raise prices if I find the market will support it.

watch ya think ?

Michael

Just goto get busy now and get the portfolio done.

Sounds Like a plan Michael. The one thing I think people forget is Just cuz You can make 100 bucks an hour in Califonia. Dont mean its the same all over the world. You just have ta figure what the market is According to yer talent. & I,d say Yer,s is top dollar. Good luck. Cowboy

the rule of thumb for airbrushing textiles seem to still be around 1 dollar a minute, or 60 an hour, with training and speed that can accumulate to around 200 an hour is what i usually generate, depending on designs, working on leather really takes a few more steps, so around 100 an hour would be reasonable for quality work............but take in mind that was the rule of thumb when i started in '86 and i still use it today on my pricing!
