Woah I am going wild with the threads xD!

Anyone do any workouts? If so what do you do and how much weight do you use?

As of now I weigh 113lbs and I am about 5' 8" and 18 years of age.

I have been doing a good amount of Pushups, curl things, situp things, using a stretchy thing across the chest, and wearing ankle weights.

Hey H...Good yer doin some weights at yer age...My piece of advice, Don't go to nuts..Stay O naturaaal...Ignore all the pills and crap out there....If yer a skinny guy (no weight probs)...You can eat like a horse (good stuff no junk)..And hammer the weights

...Ohhh! and biggest meal of the day..Right after liftin..(Body needs it most) Ya probably can't eat enough Protien..(can't grow muscle without it, get all ya can)..You'll grow quick.

I was a chunky kid in my teens....Started working out when i was 21....Been 10 years straight now. Just time off for sick days,LOL.. Got real close to taking the personal trainer test thing...Stuck with AB instead.

.Best shape i've ever been...not gonna break down stats, but i can pull off a tight shirt, haha!.....My goal is to be better at 40 than i am now...Workin out is the best choice i ever made way back when:clapping2:

I have very little protein in my meals as of now, what kinds of food do you recommend?

As of recently I have been doing a bit of monster before working out xD.

I need to build a bit of muscle to I can get off the rusty bolts in auto class without having to ask for help, and to be able to wear sexay shirts like Bill (Kid in my class).

Tomorrow we are going to the Chinese buffet for lunch. I love to go crazy on the seafood.

Thanks for your response ^_^

I was a gym rat for many years. I was into the bodybuilding stuff.
Every body wants to know what you bench.
Well at about age 33 I was benching 435 at a body weight of 235 and 6'2''.
I thought that was pretty good.
If you can bench double your body weight, you should be winning bench meets easily.
I was never able to do that.
The tall, long armed guys have to move the bar along way.
I loved it.
I tried everything as far as supps go. Even the stuff that goes in a needle.
I'm 43 now and haven't lifted seriously in several years.
I seem to have developed a disk problem in my back.
Hope to get it fixed soon. If it weren't for that, I'd still be pounding iron.
Advice,,,If your thin, eat eat eat.
It takes alot of food (if your eating clean) to put on alot of muscle.
Join a gym and hit the free weights.
Free weights will engage alot more muscle fiber than any machine.

well I am on board with ABD and Chaos... I have been hitting weights since I was 16... MANY MANY MANY years later I am still very active, but slowing down due to life (Family and other priorities). I was like you and started when I weighed 100 lbs and never thought i could get weight on. Was tempted by drugs many times but thankfully stayed away. You don't need them, unless your goals are to become a pro body builder. I now tip the scales at 210 and only 5'8"/9"ish. The biggest thing you can do is FEED YOUR BODY. I would suggest going on body building forums, there are a ton out there, more then airbrushing. Do research. But basically find yourself a nice personal travel cooler. And always have food. Hard boiled eggs, tuna, bananas plus other types. Stay away from High Sugar, Bleached flours, drink plenty of milk and WATER. Eat small meals but do them frequently. 5 - 6 times a day. I might argue a bit with ABD on the most important meal.... I feel it is your breakfast, since you have depleated your body from nutrients for 8 hours while sleeping (if not more). And you need to stay away from alcohol and get PLENTY of SLEEP. Your body grows during SLEEP.

This should be a pretty good starter, again go to forums that concentrate on this subject matter as you will get in depth discussion on this, but don't get swayed into the dark side :) not worth it, I have seen to much BS with it over the years, I call those guys weather balloons since there bodies sizes go up and down with there cycles :)

I workout once and a while but most of the time I get enough exersize just doing errands for work lifting 5 gallon drywall mud buckets 5 gallon paint buckets plus doing yard work, maitenance, and repairs on our rentals.
I will hit the treadmill for a good 5 mile run to get out the stress,
as for the eating thing, I love food.. but I have learned how to eat better
Fish, Chicken, Vegetables, healthy carbs like potatoes,
rice, wintersquash ,Fruit,,lots of banannas and water
I stay away from salt,, and bad fatty foods,, salad dressings that are creamy ,
if you do eat red meat try to stick with very lean,,

Excellent advice from all...Hey Gix...You'll get no arguments from me hehe!....I was merely saying after a workout should be largest meal of the day..I agree 1st meal after sleep is very important....Should consist of simple Carbs for fast absorbtion. (Bananas, OJ, Protien of course) The other meals in the day can be more Complex Carbs, Yer Body absorbs em slower for longer energy duration..(wheat breads, Rice, Potatoes, More Protein, hehe)...I read somewhere "It's always better to skip a workout rather than a meal"... also like Gix said 5 to 6 meal per day..or every couple 2,3hrs you should be eating.

There's a "window" that lasts 40mins to an hour after a strenuous workout,(give or take?) Your body is more willing, Ready and able to absorb all nutrients it can get, and your muscle will benefit most from all the carbs and protien you can get....Just sayin if yer ever gonna "pig out"..Save it for this meal.

Also don't work a sore Muscle directly again till it's healed..You might have the energy and the ability to..But yer just slowing things down..All lifting is just controlled tearing of muscle fibers and then healing em back up..Any idiot can tear a muscle up..Healing is where the challenge and knowledge comes more into play.

Again like Gix said..Read, read, read!...Ignore the "slap on 10lbs of muscle in 2weeks stuff"...Just concentrate on real food and lifting techniques....Most important have fun!..Don't throw away Chips and Pizza forever. Just remember they don't help grow muscle. So don't Tank up on em.

One more thing.
95%of the supps on market are worthless.
Don't believe all the BS.
Those guys didn't get that big from GNC.
If the stuff worked that good it wouldn't be over the counter.
Andro was pretty stronge and now it's gone.

OH man, I am sooooo alergic to exercise. I mean, just the thought of it makes me break out in hives! But considering I just had a baby and REALLY enjoyed eating for two for nine months... I will have to start doing some kind of work out to drop the pounds and stop looking like I am still pregnant!!:sport-smiley-003: But just to be clear... I don't wanna!! LOL

I need a personal trainer with a cattle prod to force me to get off my behind!! :violent-smiley-010: LOL

I just started back hitting the weights about 3-4 weeks ago. I try and go 4 days per week. I work a different body part daily so as not to fatigue the muscle groups. I also do cardio and abs everyday. Keep up the work. It will become a way of life.

i do work out when the summer hits, i usually jog in the mornings for at least an hour, but your young, all you got to do is eat right and be very careful with the weights, whatever you do make sure you have a spotter, use safety first, and start off slow, you dont want to make your body suffer after the first workout,,its not the muscles that attracts the ladies it the personality!!but all in all, try to stay healthy and keep up a lot of high activities, like sports or just walking to school.Walking my neighbors dog works for me, hee-hee:blind:

Back in high school..when I HAD energy...I was a gym rat. 4-5 times a week..2-3 hrs. a day. Benching 425-450#'s with little problem. All natural.. Working on a football scholarship... Oh the good ol' days....but anyway... for a guy your age that wants to get bigger.. just eat right...lots of protien, some carbs..fruit/ veggies, maybe mix in a daily vitamin, andwhen you feel like you can't do even one more rep...do five more.

Back in the day (like 10th grade?) we went to the school's little weight area and I couldn't even bench the pole without weights. o.o
I haven't benched since then but I bet I can do more now ;)

I am starting to get better things to eat like Bananas and OJ and Yogurts, and working in the auto shop carrying truck tires around helps too. ;)

Got Eggs from Giant eagle, and fish, along with milk for every day.

Maybe I'll make some kind of change and be able to take off those rusty bolts in auto class.

We also mostly cleared out the kitchen so I can cook them eggs up on the skilley and not microwave them.

Thanks everyone for sharing his comments. It was quite helpful. But I think the such stuff must be
regulated. The irregularity can cause complication in muscles.
Take it seriously.
