They are great perals. Just painted a car hood with a number of their different pearls and each had a transforming effect.

I've used their pearls a number of times--great stuff at a good price. You'll find that dry pearls are pretty much all equal, some (HOK) just cost more. TCP Global/Kustom Shop also has pearls including what they call "ice crystal" pearls, which are the same as HOK ice pearls, only cheaper. If you want even cheaper, two places I've ordered from recently have some neat stuff--only they don't call them pearls, they call 'em "micas". Look at www.coastalscents.com in the left column look under "makeup ingredients" and the first item is "mica powders" they sell ounces of them, most for around $5.00 each, and you can even get small samples for $1.50! Automotive sources don't sell samples! The "Chameleon Violet Mica Powder" is a color shift pearl that shifts from blue to violet--1 oz. is $4.75! What they call "interfine micas" are your basic ghost pearls. The second site I've ordered from is www.labellefemmecosmetics.com Same thing, in the left column go to "Pigments/Mica/Glitter" and they even have them sorted by color. The last one on the list is their Star Travel series, these are color shifting pearls, although these are $19.00 per ounce--but again you can get 2 gram samples for $3.00! I bought an ounce of the Travel to Neptune, it shifts from aqua to blue to violet! No automotive source that I know of has this one! Just look at prices of HOK Kameleon dry pearl powders--a half ounce is $69.95(!!) and 2 ounces is $274.30(!!!) This is from www.coastairbrush.com --Why so much?? Both of these cosmetic sources have a dry pearl series called "Blackstar" that are the blackest pearls I've ever seen--I've got an ounce of Blackstar Blue and can't wait to use it on a helmet or something!! I tried it on a t-shirt, sprayed basic E'tac Private Stock carbon black then mixed some Blackstar Blue with Extend-air (clear base for Private Stock) and sprayed that over the black base and it stays BLACK without going to a more graphite or dark gray color like any black dry pearl I've gotten from automotive sources! Like I said, you can get a few samples first to see if you like them, then get 'em by the ounce. Great stuff!!

Thanks for the url when the time comes I will purchase from them!
Now that was some spiffy info Sped!....I found a place in Texas awhile back..Blackgold was the name of the place..They had the typical jar of HOK kameleon pearl for like $300...But they also had a deal where you get 1/2oz for $75.....That was a heck of a deal before I had Internet.....I can't find that deal anywhere now days...That info you posted above sounds to good to be true...Gotta try out some of that stuff:)
I take it you've tested some with Uros??....That'd be my main concern, The thinner melting the flakes or something..hahaha!

Actually I don't spray uro's anymore as I don't have a properly vented spray booth or other such safe area to use them. That being said, I have sprayed uro's in the past, HOK to be exact, and the pearls HOK makes are the same as all other brands and are basically micas--except for the "ice" or "ice crystal" pearls which are "glass pearl pigments" (HOK description) and will not melt in the thinners. Flakes won't melt in thinners either, these being made of ultra-thin polyester--again, HOK's description from their website. I only spray water based paints--E'tac primarily, and Auto Air to a lesser extent, and I mix any dry pearls with the transparent base for those paints--flakes the same way, though I've only used what they call "ultra-mini" flakes, which are .004 in size. Flakes don't go through an airbrush well at all--ya gotta have a bigger gun to use them properly, in my case I've got an Iwata LPH-50 with a 1.0 mm tip. Spraying flakes effectively is kind of an art unto itself and I don't mess with 'em very often. I've got 4 different ones, all .004 size, from Paint With Pearl--Fire Red, Strato Blue, Holographic Gold, and Gold/Green/Blue....plus I recently got from Labellefemme what they call "Lavender Holographic Glitter" which is just like the PWP Gold Holo flake (same .004 size) except it's light purple. I haven't sprayed any of those yet--waiting for a customer to request it....in the meantime I'll have to find something of my own to spray some for practice!
Again great info, Thanks!!
I'm familiar with spraying flakes and do so quite often..but I'm not up on all the specs and whatnot..The only Flakes/pearls I've used are HOK...So I wasn't sure if they were paint system specific..Like Uros or water base might affect them differently..Better safe than screwing something up..LOL...Good to know they all work....I appreciate the time:)
