If you haven't noticed yet, we have a NEW Photo Gallery for our members to fill.

Having thought about it we decided to put the information in one place so you can go discover and populate this latest feature.

So I'll start with the basics.

First off, to use the gallery, a member must be active and have a post count of at least 5, so the same rule that applies to posting images in the main forum.

Without getting too boring over names, each member has a Hall, you can have up to 10 Galleries within your hall, each gallery can hold up to 200 images.

So lets get started, underneath the logo we have Forum, Whats New and Photo Gallery, Photo Gallery is what we are interested in. Clicking on this "button" produces the following screen.

32795

This is the photo gallery option screen, frome here you have several options, so we will start at the top:

Photo Gallery Home

The next 3 shots show the basic layout of the Gallery home page or front page if you like, it shows various information, ie new galleries, modified, visits etc. The slide show shows a random selection of images within the gallery.

NOTE: Clicking on an image displayed in the slide show will take you that persons gallery as well as clicking on any of the links displayed in the information lists underneath the slide show.

Going back to our options screen, the next on the list is search photo gallery list, some images are displayed here as well as all the galleries. Pretty self explanatory, search by key words, title, description etc....

Back to the drop down,

32795

Next option down we have My vBPicGallery Hall, this shows your own hall and the galleries that are contained within, as an example I have displayed my own at present, by clicking the option, this is what I see.

By clicking on either of the images it will take me into that gallery so that I can view all the images within.

Clicking on the wolf image takes me into the wolf portrait gallery.

Here I can sit and watch the slide show, by clicking on an image in the slide show the image will enlarge and be viewed in a light box as in clicking on the thumbnails in the main forum.

Or

I can click on any of the individual picture to see it enlarged.

Note: This also applies when you are viewing somebody else's gallery.

32796

Back to the options screen, the last option we will discuss, yes there is also another gallery search function here, but we are concerned with the Edit

32795

On selecting the edit on the drop down we are shown in my case thescreen as follows, if you haven't added a gallery yet you will see the first half of the screen.

The top part is where you create your gallery, name the gallery, leave a description all starts here.

32789

If you have galleries started then you will also see them listed, you then have the ability to edit them from here.

Further information, comments can be posted by anybody visiting a gallery, the member is then automatically notified that a comment has been left.

The bbl code can also be copied from the gallery and linked to the image within the forum, two things here, the linked image size is fixed within a post, it will alter the display as you view it. Secondly if the gallery is altered it could ruin a thread, so this is not recommended as best practice.

Lastly you will notice that members that have a gallery, a link is inserted automatically in the profile/avatar box that is displayed in posts.

So thats it folks, a quick rundown on the Gallery area, so go forth and populate.

Thanks Andy. I would have taken two years to get a how to up for this, and it wouldn't have been half as good.
