Whoever airbrushed that blue butt didn't get paid enough.....I don't care how much he got, it wasn't enough.

Don't seem to have access to local gallery, so I had to post a link to the graphic on my blog.

You'll get access after you've made five posts Butch. It's just an automated precautionary measure to help keep the spammers out.

I first heard Coltrane's recordings in 1956, when he was still with Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk; then I followed his remarkably creative career to his death, July 17, 1967, at the age of 40.

This was an airbrushed underpainting followed by (home made Sinopia brand metallics mixed with Golden GAC 100 acrylic polymer) hand brushed upswept overglaze to imply his ascent.

Bob,,, brings back memories,,,
his sax,, for some reason,, gave me thoughts of a breeze,, thru a tree,, on top of a lonely hill,,,
lot of emotion in his music,,, very mellow,,, I remember the Davis group as well,, era of jazz,,,
when I was younger,, jazz and blues were the norm,,, music you could listen to,, then flip the coin,,,
rock was making it's transition,, but jazz and blues were where it was at !!!
Good Post,, Good Subject matter,,, Thanks for Posting !!!

Many thanks, Whit - some fine memories.

Coltrane practiced 11-14 hours a day in order to perfect his craft, and to make the instrument vanish in service to ideas and emotion - the goal of all music and art.
