Just a quicky, none of the image settings have changed have they, uploaded as a gif for the Sunday show, but as soon as it showed in the manager it had been changed to a jpeg......

The image processing library will automatically create the thumbnails in a jpeg format when it encounters files it can convert. The original file should still be in it's original format, whether it's displayable or not.

Nope it changed it to a giff as soon as it uploaded, recognised it as a giff in the upload manager as soon as it transfered from the upload to ready to insert box, it changed it to a jpeg, the same thing as when we were all posting png files and they changed to jpegs, checked the file size as well it was smaller than the one I used last week no probs....

No argument from me, but take my word for it. The image in the database is still a .gif or a .bmp or a whatever. It's converted to a .jpg by the image processing library when it's called up. The reason for this is that the caching system on the board can handle .jpg better than other image formats. It can cache the .jpg, whereas it has to load the .gif every time. I didn't write the code, it's just the way it works.
