I've been out of touch here for too long, blame hunting season and a lack of interest in anything else~
But season's over and I forced my way back to my room, finally.
Set a goal to make this stuff profitable by year's end or ditch it all in jan '12.
So yesterday finally did something.
(sorry, I still can't figure out the attachment thingy)
34822 eh~
34823 bleh, loppsided
34824 inserted a better cd on the player~
34825back to normal
34826 deer season still on the brain so~
34827
today
34829 twist on bowhunters logo
34830and goofed around on an old tag.
Hoping when it gets warmer to put the deer skulls on my trucks and the bus, maybe it will get some coin out of the local hunters pockets. Can't eem to do anything with traditional stripes and scrolls, but hunters might pay up~
will post more as I do it~
later :steering:
Lookin Good,,, Lookin Good,,, Nice Lines,, (some look kinda "Horny" tho)
.
Throw these in the Sunday Show as well,,, Some Nice Lines !!!

Thanks guys :)
I get tired of hearing' soon as I get a car finished I will get some stripes",,,, been hearing that for 2 yrs now, tired of proving myself with posters. I've got other hobbies that have much less invested. Hunters will buy anything hunting related all year long, so hoping tags and actual tailgates will be better. Thinking of advertising to other hunting clubs, painted, carved wooden signs. I cut up into pieces the sign I made for the first club we were in. (it's posted here I think) I saved the logo for the Prez, he loved it, but some other member butted in. I swear they have male chauvinists in that club..... Prez has had it for well over 25yrs, but he too is thinking of leaving. I have no beef with him, he was very nice to me, the others though can kiss my ass~
I know economy tanked, but it's picking up around here, so we'll see what happens later I guess~

The twist on the bow hunters logo is brilliant, would have thought that the poster skull would be popular as well.

Welcome back Purple. Like Andy said, please don't give it up, your talent is too good to just give it up.
I especialy like the deer skull with white background. That looks awesome. In fact do you mind if I save that pic to put with my reference collection?

OMG Purp! Wondered where you got to!! Was even going to post the question here the other day......Don't EVER give up!!!
We all get disillusioned in this game, sick of people wanting freebies etc..and there is always someone in the crowd who knows "someone" can do that or has a "cousin" or whoever..I even got the "oh I can do that on the computer" speel when I was advertising my calligraphy...my answer to that? "go right ahead, but I guarantee you won't have the same memory attached to it as you would when you know something was hand made" i made a killing with hand made framed baby "welcome" certificates, I visited a cousin whose son is now 12, and he took me to his room to show me his new painted wall and and to my absolute surprise guess what's is still hanging on his bedroom wall?
enough rambling.... you know your worth and DON'T let anyone or anything tell you otherwise! ... gather your strength and get back on track and as you have done, find another niche in the market....the deer is superb! Good luck Carlene in your new venture and remember you are one very talented lady :)

Carlene, thanks. I actually have an idea for it. I don't think I have the skills yet to pull it off but I'll throw it out there to maybe give someone else a shot at it.
My idea is to do the deer skull and antlers like you did and then everso slightly airbrush in the skin/fur, eyes, nose and mouth.
Just my idea, my mind started wandering ever since I saw your deer skull.

Givin it up would be a HUGE shame Purp!!
There's on line sales, trucking companies..lots of drivers still LOVE this style of art on their semi's,,,theres 100's car shows where you can do this kinda stuff on the spot and make $1500 in a weekend!
Just gotta go get it though,,,keep at it and market it,,,HUSTLE girl!! You are too talented to give it up and hunt full time!!!

Well hunting full time will keep you fed I guess. But I haven't seen a bag of Doritos or a box of saltine crackers running around in the wild. Like Mark said... focus on your art and take his suggestions to heart. You're too talented to give it up. You've got to have the motivation to find the work though. Seems like I told you about a car show at Atlanta Motor Speedway about a year and a half ago where I could get a booth for $50.00. Seems you blew me off without a second thought. You'll never make any money at anything if you don't tackle it with everything you have. If you just want to persue it at your pace, that's fine too... it just means that you won't be rich until after you're dead.

WOW! this is how pinstriping should look.. I see so much garbage about that could never hold a candle up to this quality; if you cant get work at this standard, you are doing something very wrong! Same advice from me: get round to network with some custom shops because you can deliver a great service that they might not be able to do themselves. Bits here and there can add up to a living, so get to it! Dont be shy; your work is beautiful and there is a place for it, most definately!

Ron, we talked about running my car at Atlanta :P
My biggest hurdle is traveling, so I'm kinda stuck to where I am. I'm just trying to find something to get a few bucks started. I'm doing online work, but it too is slow, Sharon knows how it is. And no, I don't plan to hunt full time, I'll just go back to other hobbies that did bring in afew bucks. $10 birdhouses sell quickly at fleamarkets, yet again, seasonal.
at 47yrs old, just want to get something rolling. My stack of flyers are gone from hubby's store, just don't understand why around here. We were told this was a strange county, guess so~
Yes I just have to get motivation, just not gonna let the fumes rule my life day after day like I have in the past. My biggest motivation comes from friends and some are local and like to kick my ass for slackin lol, they've been slackin lately lololoooo!
oh and just got a reply to a $125 skate deck quote, yeehaw! Sports bar in cali! :DANCING:
I'll be starting it next week, progress pics to come! yeehaw!
yes I'm strange this way lol

Good for you on the deck Purp!
what does being 47 have to do with anything?? Have you seen how old the real amazing stripers are out there??
some of those dudes look around 96 or so!!!!
Just dont sit there!! Get that stuff on youtube, advertise on any online sales sites that you can, do those fairs and markets and anywhere that you can set up a table and show off what you got!!! Doing it live will help as well...any shopping malls where you are? Live demos will almost certainly pay off with some jobs!
Car shows for sure.
Like Ron said, if you wanna just do it for hobby, then that is great, but if you wanna be know for the immense talent you have, then get it out there, any way you can!!

Yeah, you said it MOB! Great news on the deck Carlene, I thought the same thing about age, look at me, finally learning how to pinstripe at 44!....but I've come to realise that age is no barrier! There is a lady on a drawing website I am a member of and she produces the most beautiful art, she is 85 years young!" as long as you still have the passion for it, keep going.......Now pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get out there! Your unique style will win everyone over....I can feel it in me bones! :)
