hey guys, i just wanted you guys to see some of my work that i love doing, and it didnt take me over night to learn some of this stuff, so i felt i should post it, because i am starting to question why i cant find my airbrush to flow like my pencil work,,any suggestions ,,,it starts to become a real bummer...I feel i cant grasp it at times, like im starting completely fresh with this stuff,,I have never picked up a brush in my life, so paint and mixtures are soo soo new to me,,building up with the paints to make form,,its throwing me all off,,,anything at all that might help me get there,,,thanks guys ....as you can see i still have not seemed to grasp backgrounds ever, they are always blank,,,i tried adding some airbrush to the bob marley back ground,,,all these are done with PRISM COLORED PENCILS,,

nice drawings look sweet an clean..know what ya mean wid ab im still struggling away but hey get there in the end just keep persavearing..
I don't know how ya do it Nat???...Some of those look closer to paint than Pencil.....I never got a colored pencil to look that good.
I also think yer crazy thinking yer not grasping the AB...Everything i've seen so far is way to good for someone not getting the hang of it.
..As far as the paint goes...I've been playing in the stuff probably b-4 i ever should have..I don't have all the mixing/layering down to a science.. Ya just keep trying new things till ya get it, Ya know?...I think yer well on yer way to something great....Just cool we get to see it along the way:clapping2:

Nice work Nat, as far as Yer problem with backgrounds, You made the perfect choice in the Marley one, fitting for Him & the drawing. Ive allways found if its not going to be a lanscape type setting for the background, Think of something fitting for the subject. Like butterflys for lil girls . Flowers for big girls. & perty much anything for Guys. There doesn,t have to be a lot of detail or sharp lines Nor do You want it to, It would take away from the Main subject. Justa thought. probably dont make sense. Cowboy

Natalie, All these look pretty good to me. Cant fault them. Dont worry about background that will come in time, The same for colour mixing and colour relationships that just comes with time and trial and error, honestly your stuff is great!:clapping2:

i picked this reference photo of a military man, because his uniform had a lot of greens in it, and texture look, as you see again fell flat, and what is with those brush strokes i had to go back and add in, cartoonish looking gun? Any one know a book on color theory, or how to build up paint, it seems like when painting you approach it as a whole when i do colored pencils i do it in sections...is this correct?this was just a practice piece....o and i like the subject because it had a little kitten in it, find the kitten kind of look....aint that a tiny little kitten,,,
Still say yer to hard on yerself.....You say yer having a hard time finding yer flow and everything kinda looks "cartoony"....Kid i'm telling ya got something Dam special there!...I'd hang any one of em on my wall...(and i'm really not a fan of art on the wall)....It's a style all yours!..It has "toony" feel and at the same time borders with reality...It walks a fine line all it's own.
Sure you can fine tune and keep evolving something new. Nothing wrong with that...But I think yer style is very unique and you shouldn't dismiss it so much..
Every one of your pics could probably be placed right back to you...(like hey that looks like Nats work)....Me??....Mix my stuff up in a pile with others and ya'd never know who painted it...Just another shiny helmet or gas tank....I wish i had half the originality or "soul" of your stuff!
I'm just a fruitloop in the sticks, So i don't have the Art knowledge and worldly experience as most....But i still think yer on to something and should go with what comes natural!!
