Hi all,
I started working on a showroom piece for Glasurit and their partner company Dyo, in Turkey. They plan to open a new traning center for auto painters and people working at car body work sector. I had already painted a door for their place, and now I am doing this car hood upon their request again for the permament exhibit. Their representative came up with the idea that sth similar to the company logo would be good to paint and the referance picture with macaws was found. Unfortunately I couldn't find who the original artist was but they are lovely birds. With one major difference though; their logo has a red macaw and these are predominantly blue. :party-smiley-042: But we agreed them to stay as in the reference.
I've used a twelve years old single action Sata with 0,2mm nozzle and of course Glasurit paint 55 series black for the first layer. In the pictures you will see my first work of contouring and certain detailing with one color: black...I will continue with coloring and see how it goes at the next stages.
A short video is also available at the link below, showing me doing some detailing closer to the end of my first day's work. You will also be able to see a good degree of this hood's details in another video while I am actually practicing on a small object in front of it.

Josie, Whit and ABD,
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the comments. I have been busy with several other things that I didn't even get the chance to finish this WIP, even though I gave it back a few weeks ago to the company represantative Hakan Ozgan to be cleared and placed in the new training center of the company.
Here I send the pictures showing several layering with white and black. I will post the coloring steps in my following posts...

Hey guy! Back in the 1970s I worked in a Porsche, Audi, and VW dealership. I used to shoot a lot of Glasurit paint. They still have the parrots on the can label? Now that I think about it I still may have color chip books in my basement from when I was in business in the 80s. Through all of the american color books away but keep the foreign ones for some reason...? Hey! Good luck on your projects!

Hi Cowboy and Redanner,
Thanks for the posts. Cowboy, before coloring steps I just noticed that I forgot to add the video links for black and white stages. Thanks for your interest and I'm hoping to send coloring bit soon.
Redanner, good to see someone who is used to Glasurit paints, I wonder how their performance was in the years you used them. I found even the thinner they produce give a very good consistency to the paint.
Here are the links to the black and white steps amateur videos:

airbrushoptic, The paint matched the german cars better than the american paint did. During the time periods that I used them, american paint was actually acrylic lacquer where glasurit was just lacquer. From what I learned in the auto body repair school that I went to, that means that the resins in glasurit were not man made. The old plain laquers were made from tree gum. I doubt that is the case today.

Hi Redanner,
Many thanks for the info about their paint, I am not sure about the case today either, but still remembering that the company representative was talking about their products' being being less harmful than others. I'll ask and when I have a reply I'll let you know. See you  ....
Here I send some more colorful shots...
First stage in coloring with some diluted orange on the chests and the tails...

Those birds look great. You should be happy with them. How long did it take you to do?

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the comment, I did this in two months, but on and off together with a Honda Bike, a laptop cover, a t-shirt, and some landscape paintings. I guess the total time I could spare for this hood was not more than 5 days.
By the way, I forgot to give the video links of the coloring stages...
