Paint a symbol of the U.S.M.C. emblem on a truck hood. Ive have a projector and also i have a pounce pad and perforater. (not sure what its called its a lil spiked wheel on a handle) I'm sure there is a better way then what my brain is telling me. I also have masking paper. Not sure what to do here. Ive never done this before.
Thx Peeps.....Todd

LOL! Nice signature, I had to say heck with it and just jump strsight into lol! Since you don't have a plotter I would use the white masking paper. You can draw it onto the mask and cut out each section you need. be careful not to cut through the paint lol, I can't say I like doing it this way but have done it. Another I do it is outline your symbol with the blue 1/8" fine line tape, lay your mask over that and it's a little easier to cut into the blue tape. I f you have a sign shop close by, have it vectorized and you would have a nice clean stencil. Lot's of ways to do this, all depends on skill level and what you have to work with. MP

Yeah, definately keep your pounce wheel away from the vehicle. Pounce the outline in the shop, then chalk it on the vehicle. Good to see that there are still a few hardy souls keeping the old school techniques alive (even if you *are* DOOMED) :)

Haha! ! Are you planning on freehanding this whole thing? Have to be carefull if you go the chalk route, if you use to much it could blend in with the paint. Not good if you happen to use the blue chalk and white paint lol! MP

Actually, I was sold when you said sign shop. The guy down the street has a sign shop with one of those big cutters. He could easily make the USMC symbol for me. I'm just not sure what material to use. That masking paper is great but my transfer tape doesn't work worth a shit with that masking paper. It works great with vinyl. Got any suggestions on what material to use? It has to be big enough, easy to sent through the vector, easy to transfer over. I'm open to all suggestions.

When I first started without a plotter, I;d buy some Avery white paint mask, its a a little stiffer than vinyl but makes great stencils. I would flap a piece on the wall and use my projector, then use an exacto knife to cut it all out but still leaving it all intact. Throw on some transfer paper and then your good to go. I've used vinyl before as a stencil and works good too. You have sign software or similar to even vectorize the logo?. MP

A low tack, low cost vinyl such as Oracal 631 will work if your sign guy doesn't have paint mask on hand.
