Sorry I wasnt sure where to post this question. But I was thinking about doing this at all my indoor events...hope I have some this winter brrrrrrrrrrrrr..lol Anyways, I am not at the top of my game about computers, but I was wondering, can you load pics on a cd and then play them on a dvd portable player? or no. I was just thinking a constant slideshow of other events I have done would be cool for customers to look at. I am booked for next sat at a local high school craft day. i guess I mentioned that already in another post..sorry, but was thinking besides having that HUGE tee with their school spirit on it for them to see in person. Have a computer there to show a slideshow of pics i have taken and events I have done with happy customers..LOL Do portable dvd players play burned dvds? or am I taking the short bus home?..lol HELP PLEASE...i read the posts on all the hi IQs in here...I am begging you

Some programs,,, as Paint Shop Pro,,, have
animation capabilities (producing),, you
could just make a large slideshow as an animation
with each picture having the same time sequence
and loop to run continously as long as it needs !!!
It would just be a gif instead of jpg format !!!
Just another avenue to explore !!!

If you have Windows XP...there is an excellent program built in called Windows Movie Maker.
It is not the most complicated movie editing program.
And you can do some amazing visual things.
There are also many upgrade packages available, for free, thru Microsoft.
I have made and edited many movies and "slideshows".
(You are welcome to ask for help)
You can save you "movies" as video files for the PC or web, but you can also burn VCDs (Video CDs) and DVDs
VCDs are recorded on CD blanks, and will playback on any computer and most DVD players (but not all).
DVDs of course require DVD players or a computer to play back (and are much higher quality and resolution).

I AB over 10 tees this week for a school dance thats saturday night. I am gonna go to the high school and get pics of the kids in gear, to match up with the ones I have taken on the easel. So I will have a closeup and one being displayed. I think that will be interesting to add to this portfolio.

CD burning
does that mean you can't burn DVDs?
What CDburn program are you using??? I might be able to help.
Many of these programs can create a slideshow CD or DVD for you.
(although I prefer to build a video file first and then burn it)
Basically you just fill up on the image files you want to use,
and the program will create a slideshow CD for you.
There are usually some options available to you...
like duration of each pic, cropped or full screen etc, transition effects between pics, titles and lead-ins, and so on.
...and usually you can add an audiotrack aswell.
Like background music (just pick a music file)
or narration etc from an existing audio file that you have created.
As I said before, if you burn a CD, it will most likely be a VideoCD (VCD)
and you need to be warned about image quality loss. Start with really good resolution images! (And stay away from SVCD...seems they are less compatible with many machines, unless you just want to use it on your PC, check to make sure your DVD player is able to play VCDs and SVCDs, not everyone will.)
an you can fiddle while it burns it:partyalone:

Hey Dave and Denise I do have the Nero and the Movie maker, I got them all loaded then burned to a cd-rw and when i put it in the dvd player it showed a file..lol like you would need to open it..man I have no idea what happened here. That was with Nero so then I used the movie maker made the Title and everything...DAMN thing showed only thumbnail pics in the dvd player. GREAT! lol so I called a friend who knows somethings and she came up with trying a free software online thingy. So we put all the images in that program and it burned a dvd really good no title or anything cool like that but..blah blah blah...it looks ok, but every pic has their logo burned in it, lightly though, but dang..I couldnt figure out the movie maker..HELP! I would love to try again

First of all, you can use either Nero or Movie Maker,
but choose one! LOL
You will need to learn a few basics, so don't confuse yourself.
Correct me if I am wrong...you want to make a slideshow of images,
to use at a show, fair, event, etc. Just to run on a TV or PC.
And you want to make a DVD?
So how many images do you have, and what kind of images are they?
Can you also tell me the resolutions (ie 800x600 pixel)
Is a title really necessary? how long do you want each pic to stay on the screen? do you want ads or wording to appear between pics? or maybe every now and then? (say, a business logo or ad)
Give me this info, and I will try to run you thru the steps to make your DVD. Between me, Denise and Whit...it sounds like we can help get it done.

okay, then NERO it is! LOL
no seriously, Nero may be the better way to go.
if you have the right Nero.
Nero WILL do it right and do it quicker.
You need NeroVision 3 or 4 (for best results)
comes in complete Nero...not the Nero express suite that came with your burner.
Do you know what Nero you have?
I just ran through a slideshow creation with Nero, was very simple.
You need only setup a couple of settings.
I have another suggestion...if you are interested.
Mail me a blank DVD and a CD with the images on it.
I would be glad to make up the DVD for you.
I have no problem building you menu, titles and anything else you want to add. Even background music if you like.
Put all the images into one folder.
tell me how big the folder is.
Will it fit on a 700mb CD?
Other than that, we have to get you NeroVision.

Check your messages, I have sent you info.
no problem
ive been using a portable dvd player with a slide show of a couple hundred designs for a while now. i keep it on my counter, the screen turns 360 so the customer can watch it or i can freeze it to paint a design from it. it has created many extra sales!
