HI anderekel, I use a rattle can for my canvas', but the other guys use the normal auto stuff. I would love to see what you painted! I don't think I have ever seen any of your work.

I haven't painted it yet, but I figure it's better to find out before hand rather than get in trouble later. I'd post the shirt I'm working on, but I don't have a camera, :angry-smiley-030: oh well.....

I use goldens for all my work and I've cleared them with everything from spray bomb clear to agressive urethane clears, and I've never had a problem.

I feel your frusteration. I finally broke down and got mine on a Black Friday sale. I was up in line at 3:30 am! Maybe you can get one of your school buddies to help take a picture. You are a young pretty female, use your wildy ways! :wink2:

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Um, I know I don't have an actual pic of me, but I'm a guy, names Derek.

And cowboy, I'm not gonna try to clear the shirt. I'm specifically talking about doing a laptop. So plastic in this case.

Ok Derek , If thats the case I would use a rattle can clear called Upol. Its more expensive that Krylon, ( that might work for You ) Bout 15 to 20 bucks. But is an automotive type clear. & dold at most auto body paint stores. I wouldn,t think You,d want to go thru the expense of the regular Uro clear & equipment necesarry to paint it. BUT even with upol wear at least a charcoal filtered mask & have plenty of ventilation. I hope this helps. Cowboy

Plastic... er, won't a Urethane clear "eat" it? I've used FrogJuice to clear plastics in the past, without any problems...
(www.farfromnormal.com - for the frog juice)

Then again, Derek...this isn't my area....hang tight, there's others on here that can help much more so than I.

Thats a good point colourshift, I,ve never done one, But thats is what the people I know have used. The upol is very fast drying & I belive He would be fine. allthough a test panel might be a good idea. Cowboy

So, is upol like the alsa clear, where you have to break the egg in the bottom and then use it in a day? oh, by the way, I do have a respirator, tried using enamels once, decided that my basement isn't ventilated enough. :speechless-smiley-0

I've Cleared a lot of plastics with Plain old Automotive Clear...Omni, HOK UC-35....Never had a prob on anything....The thing that comes to mind that matches yer Laptop the most, Would be a PS2...Probably similar plastics??.....I've done acouple of them with Omni..Still holding strong.

Just some more info for ya to Ponder..Good luck

No the Upol is a single stage clear. No egg to break. It was designed for doing , doorjambs & hard to reach areas, But will Blend well with the Uro clear & can also be sanded & buffed. Allthough I wouldn,t use it on someones 20 ta 50 thousand dollar ride. Its great for small projects . Cowboy

Cool, I may have to find some of that upol then, does it last, pretty much, forever then?

Cowboy

Hehe. Nuthin lasts forever. But as long as it doesn,t freeze or get to hot Yes lasts quite awhile. I know it costs more, But you get more its a bigger than regular can, more full of paint than propellant & has a very nice spray pattern unlike the cheap crap. When done using give it one more blast upside down so just proppelant comes out to clear the nozzle. Good luck. Cowboy

Well, I meant that it would last long enough to be able to use it all. :) So, how much area do you think it could cover?

Cowboy
04-04-2007, 03:35 PM
Yes I know, that was kindof a joke. It will last like anyother aresol, But like I said make sur the nozzle is clean after use. also its very important to shake it real good, then let setlle for just a bit ( 5 or 10 minutes ) I,ve found. Cowboy

Yeah, I did get the joke, just kinda hard to get the right emotions over the internet.. :angry-smiley-030: :) So, do you have an idea of the area it can cover? Like I've got, hopefully, a couple laptops and a guitar that I will be clearing at some point, will one can cover those? more? less? Thanks for all the help cowboy. I've always enjoyed your posts, here and at the other site.

Well, Its kinda hard ta tell, anderekel , It goes quite aways, much farther than the cheap stuff. I,d say depending on how many coats , It very well could do all of those projects. But I,d suggest getting a can & experimenting & get used to it. If You need info just google Uplo, click on english & check out all of there aresol products. They have high build primer & lots of other great stuff. & have great tech sheets also. Cowboy

Sorry Derek, but see if one of your friends can still help you out with a picyure. Maybe a cell phone camera. Offer them a beer if you are of age, and if not, pizza, then thet may help you take pictures some more!
