A "Deadhead" helmet, WIP

Not finished yet, just a WIP on my helmet. Old deadhead from way back, had to do something with that, so this was from a sewn patch I saw on the internet, scanned and tweaked in Illustrator, and cut a mask on my plotter. It was a BITCH getting it to stretch. Ended up with three masks, cut and patched together. Pain in the butt to peel after paint. Some bleeds, but it should clean up fine, then bury in in clear.

Second pic is a small tribal on the side, too much empty space, had to paint something on it! Third pic is the blind dog logo on the back.... critiques welcome, keep in mind, I just pulled the mask, have to clean it up some yet.:dog:

looks good !!! just out of pure curiosity what color is that baby blue in the back of your 2nd picture, the name, it is house of kolor right. the reason I ask is I am doing a project coming up and I am gonna need some kolors like that. I guess I sould realy just foot the cost and get a kolor book

NICE JOB!!

When I cut a stencil like this for a curved surface,
I don't even attempt to put it on.
I cut it into at least 4 pieces first!
Then start distorting it to apply it.
I know what you are saying!

Can you send me that Dead logo file?
I have been looking for that electric skull for a long time.

Denise, I actually like yours better because its freehand. Mine is just a painful stencil exercise.

Dan, it is So Blue HOK, cant remember the number, I am at the office. I will try to remember to look at it tonite. Yep the color book is vital to me, worth the $.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The color is HOK Orion Silver metallic, 3 coats and the bolt is Kandy Apple Red.

Dave, you will have it in email tonight when I get home. For us ol' deadheads, that electric skull logo is called SYF. (Steal Your Face)

Damn, Dave, that is a way cool piece. Please put it in the Gallery! The original is called "Blues for Allah" and is one of my favorite dead art pieces. It is on my "to do" list soon, after I finish my Skeleton Sam illustration from the Dead Movie and the Rubyiat "Stanley Mouse" version of the skull& roses. I will be AB'in these images on my Harley this winter, thus the helmet test. That logo I did on the helmet will be on my back fender. Nice work, I hope mine can measure up. Inspiration is revving man. Meantime, emailing the SYF logo now.......
