Working on line starts and stops as well an consistant width. Some improvement. Still struggling with the dagger strokes but they are better also. Any good tips for making the lines straighter other than using some type of guide to follow?

Comments and advice always accepted

make a dot, then make another a few inches away, then go like hell from one to another. the faster you go the straighter and nicer the line will look. speed is the key, the slower you go the more your lines will look worked. practice vertical as well as horizontal.

exactly
as you learn, you should be able to airbrush quicker, paint faster...
and if you are moving and flowing quicker and easier, then your lines will be straighter (or more in control)

right now you are probably concentrating real hard.
you will relax as you get better.

I still have moments of shake and stumble!

concentrate on breathing.
never hold your breath while painting.
(check...everyone does it!!)

again, the biggest key is being loose and moving,
keep the brush moving,
and only spray paint when you need it.

Denise, its funny, as Moose could give that same tip as a good tip for pinstriping. Same body motion applies.

Dave, its funny buy you are right. That said, watch Vince Goodeve's tank mural vid. He holds his breath so hard on the Micron tight lines, he actually grunts, LOL. In fact, he apologizes for not talking while doing the tightest work, as he isn't breathing.

Moose, these strokes are good, you are doing just fine. Take these very experience folks advice, and do your next exercise at twice the speed. It may at first be sloppier, but will soon be better than you think you could do so soon.

Thanks All,

I increased my speed and that helped with the straight lines .....

yep...speed's the key! just a thought here too about holding the airbrush.....i find i get stability from the tension i get from my hands pushing together on the bottle.

looks like you're doing fine!!
