Well bad day! It didn't turn out the way I wanted it to! I will post it anyway. I was trying to create a engraved granite skull with horns on a tag. 20 steps later I gave up on it and didn't finish it because I over saturated the shading on the horns. Well this is an example why us newbies should post even our mistakes. Hopefully, comments will come in and we newbs will learn something!:o LOL Steel

I do have 20 pic's but will not post them in a how to.

Heck Len, that's what white paint is for! I did this one (one of my very first after many years away) with HOK enamels. It has so much white covering up mistakes I was afraid to clear it, LOL.

Interesting to me that you start a skull with the eyes and teeth. Each to their own, I need an outline to focus on, always start with the skull shape. I would love to see the progression on this, each person works a different way, but it all works. Cheers,

looks like just the teeth went too dark to me. I'd suggest doing the highlights in everything but the teeth freehand, then mask for the white teeth, pull the mask, then go over all with transparent greys? maybe use some drop shadows to hide any stray overspray?...just throwing out first thoughts here...

i LOVE starting from black and working it up from the highlights....to me it looks like you ended up with a great place to start!!

Have to clean 12 VLs and almost 30 jars and refill them....

DENISE.. Harbor Freight, catch a coupon off, or it on sale.. has a 1 PINT capacity ultrasonic cleaner.. strip the brushes down, rinse the best you can with running water quickly, and stand in the ultrasonic clfeaner on end.. fill to suitable depth, with water and your favorite cleaning stuff.. turn on.. it turns itself off after a minute or so.. let sit a bit and do again..
same with needles and so forth, then rinse under hot water..
$29.95 is what I caught mine on sale for..
