Hey Art, give the specs on the thing and we can lend some help, otherwise, ??? If you read around here, PonderThis did a great piece on ACFM and how to tell what you need. Sounds like you have the right goods, but post the specs, CFM, etc. (The color won't help)

2.4scfm@90psi

Post a pic so we can see what type if any regulator it has. It should have a shut off switch so it will come up to pressure and shut off. as you drain the storage it will restart to fill back up.

i cant find it but i got hose connected to hose is that maybe the problem?

there should be some type of pressure switch where the power cord runs between it and the motor. As for the discharge where your hose attaches to the tank should be a pressure regulatotr. If not you will get whatever pressure you have in the tank. If you don't have some type of regulator you need one. can get at a store like sears or harbor freight

all i see is the tank then the motor is big and there is alittle box to the left with the on off switch and the cord and a big gage then it connects to another gage but its smaller and then it connects to a yellow cord and i connect that to my cord then i connect that to the airbrush..

on one of the guages there should be a knob you can turn to lower the pressure, probably the guage closest to the 'yellow cord' or airhose.

is it a big red one?

Bear in mind you may need to bump the air
to let pressure off before you can see any
pressure drop change,,, but the knob next
to the last exit guage should be the one !!!
-
Some of these knobs have to be raised (pulled up)
before you can twist to set the regulator psi !!!
Then push back down to lock back in place !!!

ima look for my camera but i think it is becuz of the line connected to the other but idki pulled the red one out and it had like a screw in it? is that the one?

sounds like it....i hesitate to tell you to loosen it if you aren't sure tho-...i would't want parts to go flying under pressure if it's not it. Yep, a pic would be handy to be sure...and safe.

stand in front facing comp,,,
pull Red knod toward you (it should snap),,,
turn one way or the other,,, depending
which turns pressure up or down,,,
best to check pressure valve (opposite w/pull ring)
just pull the ring to release pressure then you can
see if your going up or down with the pressure
(we use about 40 psi here)
after you've set your pressure,,, snap red valve
knob back in place and your cookin !!!
One guage tells tank pressure,,, one tells what
pressure you're using !!!
Good Luck on it !!!

it doesnt snap is screws?

TheArteest3
11-12-2006, 06:52 PM
ok i got at 40 but the other one is still raising...how high is that one expected to go?

Whit
11-12-2006, 06:55 PM
it snaps out I'm thinkin and THEN it screws !!!
It may not have a snap lock on it,,, if not,,, just twist
one way or the other keeping an eye on the guage
that's connected to it !!!
You may have to release some pressure first to see if
it increases or decreases the pressure on the guage !!!
-
It indicates 125 psi on the labels,,, so at least
somewhere around there it should shut off !!!

Did you buy the compressor new? In the manual it should list the shut off point. Whit is correct should run probably between 80 - 90 psi and 100- 120 psi

the shut off reang is adjustable if it is set too high

the maximum is 125 i think but it stops around 120...i was using it at 40 like wit said...

ok so is 125 high or is that around good becuz i dont want nothing blowing up in my face and getting hurt..

Whit

Your working psi is a personal prefference thing !!!
I like around 40,,, Denise runs hers around 50ish !!!
Whatever your own comfort level is,,, work there !!!
I'm thinkin you don't need to worry about the thing
blowing up,,, you'll never know what hit ya anyway !!!
(that was a joke)
Good Luck on your new experience in airbrushing !!!

moose

I don't think you need to worry about it blowing up. The tank is rated much higher than 120. What the higher tank pressure will do is extend the time till it needs to be pumped back up. Don't let is startle you the first time it re starts. that is what it is supposed to do.

The little gold colored thing that sticks out from near the red tipped start switch is a safety releif. If for some reason the pressure switch does not shut off the compressor it will open to release the excess pressure before anything would blow up.

Good luck and have fun

Tim
