on another thead we were talking about doing your first car and it reminded me of something that happened to me and i'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience......

my first job on metal was lettering a wrecker with an airbrush. I had no idea what i was doing and told the guy that, but he said no problems, that he had the right paint, etc., so I showed up to do the job at his shop. I distinctly remember it was Imron paint, and mixxing the catalyst in it and having no real problems...yet. The paint worked okay, and i did a pretty good job for where my skills were, and he paid me. End of story, right??.......WRONG!

I didn't use a mask....big mistake i was to learn the hard way. It was winter, freezing outside that night, and after the job was done i was taking my gear to my car when it hit me.....i was gonna be SICK! I threw-up 3 or 4 times on the way home. I didn't get out of bed for 2 days....I WANTED TO DIE!! then, when i woke up the 3rd day, i literally felt better than i had in a long, long time....weird!!!

i didn't notice anything at all wrong until i hit the fresh air, then BAM it hit me like a freight train. I now understand why i was sick, but why did i feel so good when it had finally passed?

needless to say i'm now religeous about good ventilation and a mask when it's called for!!

I think that problem is goin around. Imron will give ya dead babies. Read that years ago, several guys that painted Imron on a regular basis became sterile. I might start huffin that stuff now that I don't need any more wild cats runnin around.

man, that looks like a fantastic piece of equipment! i'm sure expensive too, but just out of curiosity, how much?

I wish i had your worries with the high volume, Steven. I have some plans someone sent me for a homemade fresh-air system if anyone's interested i could post here for scrutiny.

I need to get that for my kid. Not sure how it works with suckin up the air from the shop, but if you get sick form just opening the can it must work. Hell, sometimes I open the can just to get started, and some people drink coffee. That stuff stunts your growth.
