I use spray bottles, and a bucket or trashcan...
empty cup of paint
blast with stream setting sprayer into bucket until it runs fairly clear
run airbrush, and repeat if nec. (thicker paints are harder to budge)

Intermittently, if I'm spraying a lot...I'll run a little airbrush restorer through it, to clean out any residual goo.

Thanks, I will give it a try. I am still just making and connecting dots but using one color is getting boring.

I just run cleaner through the airbrush and then distilled water after that. Then use a Q-Tip to swab the color cup and start with the new color! You can back flush it by briefly putting your finger over the nozzle! do it quick or the back flush will be all of you and your painting if not careful.

I have used a number of different things to clean with; mild soapy water, windex, windex for kitchen counter tops (the clear stuff), and diluted ammonia. Someone on this site said diluted ammonia was alright as long as I flushed it out real good with clean water. I have never had any problems with it attacking the brass.

when you've hit brass, you've already got damage to the airbrush. I found that out the hard way, Fantastic left in an airbrush is BAD...it eats the chrome away eventually.
You wanna protect the chrome, which is what's protecting the brass underneath.

I'm sure Lynne is absolutely correct, she's been at it a long time! I've been at it long time but I'm a greenie also. I usually diluted those kind cleaners and I'm also a clean freak when it comes my airbrushes and don't leave anything in them. Not even for a Kool-Aid break. I have never tried Fantastic but the others I have.

You can also pull the trigger back all the way without air flow, and depress your thunb or palm over the cup (depending on what model you have) and depress down with your thumb or palm to "squirt" out the water to flush clean your gun and cup. I will do this untill it is clear, and spray once to make sure. This cuts down on spray in the air.

I use a spray bottle also I use very watered down windex with amonia but only about 2 tablespoons in with 1 quart of water.. keeps the chrome nice..
