What about water colors? are they a decent practice paint?

Sure you can use water colors! You can use about anything that will go through the airbrush that won't poison you or anybody else!! I guess thats not quite true because urethanes are used on vehicles and can be BAD!!!! If you like making your own colors try some ink-jet printer ink that you can buy in refill kits.
