Cicioc, I agree with you....more white (high-light) will bring it out more (POP). You have a style of painting that sets you apart from what I have seen before.....Different style. I like it very much!!!

LOL
americans don't understand cm !!!
100 cm is a metre
and a metre is a little longer than a yard (about 39 inches)
LOL
I think its funny!
the whole world should be metric!!
its so much simpler!
(I apologize to those who do actually understand metres and centimetres)

This may be a dumb question, but what is the difference between art and airbrush art? I was taught that art was art. If someone said that they were an artist and a creation they made was called "art" then that is what it is. An airbrush is just a tool for creating art. What is the difference between art done with oils, acrylics or inks whether done with an airbrush or hair brush?

thancku a lot
but when i heard somthing about art it makes me laff cose i was in a colege of arts here in romania and everibody from there were genius people (they think like that, like they are genius:)))))))))) lol ) and thats why i dont consider what i do art because i think art its somthing apart , somthing whit a lot of emotional fellings and very good thinking (a litle explaining not all:)) )
a lot of people i see they said they are the "artist" and they do a lot of shitt and things what i dont call art but they are the artists and i dont wanna be like they thats why i dont consider i do art. i let for they to do art and me do what i like and what i fell and let they to live in that world where "they do art for art" , cose like this once told me 1 guy for my clas .
but he dont know haw it is to do sompthing and after that to do another thing u need money for materials and colors and a lot of thinghs , he dont know that because when he need money to do somthing his parents give hi everything he needs ands im glad for him cose he dont know haw it is whithout money and work hard for a litle money to do sompthing .
i dont do art for art i do painthings for me an that i sell (if i sell somthing) that its for me to cose that reprezent me .
im glad i apreciate what i do .
thanck u a lotttttttttttttttttttttttt:ybeer1:

Denise,
Please don't put yourself down! I understood the first part of your post, but I just did not understand the second part. I was really trying to get what you posted.
There is a lot of "art" that I don't get, or like. That is just me, someone else just loves it and that is great. Art is supposed to convey an emotion either from the creator or from the observer. Hopefully, the creator and the observer will be on the same emotional level about the art, but as we all know that does not always happen.
You know that I Luv Ya!

Okay Denise,
I understand where you are coming from now. I think you hit the nail on the head here. It is all about the emotional power of the art.
If you do a shirt that has a heart on in and 2 names (pick any two) that says, say . . . Jerry Loves Jeanie. What emotional power does the artist have invested in the shirt? Do you really care who loves who? No. It is just trading a shirt that has some meaning to the buyer for $$$ that means something to the artist.
If you do a portrait on a shirt and the exact same portrait on a canvas the canvas portrait is worth at lest twice what the shirt is. You can have the same emotional power invested in both items. But the emotional power is different in the eyes of the observer. T-shirts are disposable and canvas is durable.
You know that I wish I had half the talent you have in your little finger in my 6' 4" 244 lb. body!
Hope you have a better rest of the day than you have had so far.
Regards,
Jerry :whip2:
This this this! They say you don't do art! People say I don't do art. They see I do tees thay say I'm only a t shirt painter. "Oh you do airbrush..." "your stuff looks like tattoos". "Do you do Tattoos" "You sould go to art school to learn to be a "REAL" artist". Doesn't matter what you've done. Doesn't matter what you do... if you airbrush your considered less an artist for some reason. The artsy fartsy your not an artist. Art creates emotion. You look at one and it makes you feel happiness. you look at another and you have such feelings you can't describe. you lool at another and it causes an erection. Doesn't matter how it's made... no... but in the eyes of many in the art community airbrushing isn't an "art". You could make it with a hairbrush and it would be art to the art community.
These aren't pin ups they are....
These create an emotional disturbance. It's the ambience. The atmosphere. Doesn't create a sense of sexual arousal, not adoration of the body beautiful... but of emotional power. Anticipation. Deep sense of... can't think how to say it.... Forgive me at al loss...Look at the difference between Andy Warhol and El Greco. Which creates the most emotion? A soup can or a tumultuous scene of Christ or Toledo.
Yes everything created as art is art but does all art have the same power?

The greatest compliment an artist can receive is for the art to bring tears to the eyes of the observer.
ure right about that and i like haw u said it.
thancks another tine and every time
i thinnk this is zhe best compliment ever;)
I really don't belong in this and I do not consider myself as any kind of artist. This is just my general thoughts of basically any critics.
You go to school to learn what is acceptable right and wrong. Where you take this education and do with it is up to you. Don't forget, there was a fellow that spent millions setting up umbrellas and opening them at one time was art. My feelings are that the ones that came up with the money got took. Critics say it's great but I think this was someone that knew how to use the art world to his advantage, not an artist.
Just going through the education system students are exposed to art. I can understand how many of them died broke. I didn't care for it. How they became famous artists I will never know. The first thing to come to mind when someone makes a statement about an acquired taste or learn to like is, Some people eat sh*t with a dirty spoon. Now that is something to learn.
If someone is satisfied with what they are doing that is an accomplishment.
If some one says you are not an artist for doing tees, do they want to pay more for the item and more detail? Ask them if they will go into their own pocket to promote what they do. No they won't.
Everything has someone for and someone against. It is all up to the individual. I like what I see here. I am glad that many people on here are willing to share what they know. Thanks to all that contribute to the group.

I'm not gonna get in the middle of your discussion, cause I think you guys are arguing it quite well!! LOL
I love this topic!
For years, I have had one slogan: "Art...I don't get it!?"
I have a number of personal rants on my blog,
to do with "art" and the "art community".
(If anyone is interested, I would love to post them.)
But, if you have the time, please check out my Editorial page
"Dave's Thoughts" (http://www.koolgraphics.com/airdave/html/editorial_page.html)
and make sure you click on the link and read, Dave Barry's article called "I almost had an art attack when I saw the Chair"
It is hilarious!
I've just always just called it "Stuff" !!!
Somebody ask what we do here,,, it's "Stuff" !!!
We do all kinds of "Stuff" but it's still "Stuff" !!!
Our shop name is "Signs etc." but the etc. just
stands for "Stuff" !!!
Someone turns a nice piece of work,,, I just say,,,
"That's Some Nice Stuff,,, Man" !!!
-
(course I've been told to stuff it,,, as well )

Post em up Dave, this is the "stuff" we all need to feel and taste....your views are intelligent and valuable.
For me, art comes from deep inside. While it may be a bike or helment or jet ski, if I didn't go through turmoil, pain and anguish when I painted it, its not art, its graphic art illustration. As Denise points out, it evokes emotion and thought beyond the visual level, usually visceral and often highly emotional. C's work is definitely in that world.
That doesn't mean that any surface, from T-shirt to Harley tank to hot rod, or canvas, or chalked sidewalk doesn't qualify as art. Just look at the lowriders from the sixties in the Smithsonian. They deserve to be there! It means that for everyone that does, there are hundreds that are nice, enoyable, well done, graphics illustrations. Nothing wrong with that. Just ask Luc how many of those gollum's he could crank out at a county fair in a day. He would probably faint.
Just my blind dog view of the world. Peace...
