Well I'll be home for awhile recovering from a little back surgery.
I have a Mack, some Oneshot, and a pain of glass.
Let's see if I can learn something while I'm off.
Can any of you good poeple can give me some direction or good basics sites to follow.

I would get rid of the glass! Then I would clean the refrigerator real good and then start striping the frig. LOL I can't really help you but glad ya made it home!!
Sounds like a good thing to do while yer down.....I'd keep the glass...Can't get much better to practice on than that...If ya don't like it, Razor blade it off and start over......
Umm?? other tips huh..I'm not a striping pro er anything...I like to load my brush up on a Magazine.(with a shiny cover)..Pour a quarter(ish) blob of paint on there..Dip yer paint in some reducer/spirits (whatever yer using)...Then brush back and forth threw the paint..get er loaded up real nice...Brush off the excess on the magazine...Start striping!..Take pics and post em up,hahaha!..All in a days fun!

Yep, The frig idea sounds like a good way to get back in the hospital. LOL...
As many ways,, as folks doin it !!!
Personally I like to "Feel" the consistancy
on the paint,,, I dip about 1/2 inch into a
can of 1-shot,,, mabye a 3/8 inch in the
thinner,, and pull the brush several times
between thumb and forefinger,,, distributing
the paint evenly throughout the brush !!!
If it's to thin,, more paint,, too thick,, more
thinner,, until it feels right,, then lay the line !!!
This way takes any residue and reincorporates
it back into the brush eliminating any "Dry Spots"
in the brush !!!
Like I say,,, each his own,, whatever your comfy with !!!
Hahaaha..I also like to get my fingers messy like Whit..I still use the Mag for a pallet to load and reload...But it does work better to "massage" the paint in the brush...I just figured being practice and all..Ya might wanna stay clean...Save gettin dirty till ya feel better, hahaaa!
I've never "felt" for consistancy like Whit..But I haven't spent as much time with a stripe brush as he has either..hahaa!

Sounds right to me but I couldn't stripe anything working like that! I would leave finger prints everywhere! Or take the time to clean my hands and the paint dry in the brush! LOL! Say Whit do you use your feet and toes? keep the glass, no frig, paint everywhere, well maybe I should play dumb..

I have twin 6 year old boys with lots of coloring books.
I can nabb some pages out of them, stick them on the back of the glass and trace away.
If they wonder what happened to the pages out of their book, I'll blame the other one.
Might make for good entertainment,.... Kid Fight....LOL
NO, That's not nice. I'll blame mom.:boogie:

Carsin sounds like a good idea Kids fighting and all with the wife yelling I don't think you'll be resting...
as for the stripes practice vertical lines like 1000 of them then and get them closer together as you get better..
then do 1000 horizontal lines and get closer together
by then you'll get the feel as to how thin you like to work with...
I never did it but read it in a book.. :boogie:
but it was an artical from a professional can't remember who it was.. then after that lesson he has you so circles but shows you how to turn the brush i think the lessons where in airbrush action..
good luck

there are basic strokes , if you do them many many MANY times, you will learn to control the brush and can get good consistent lines.
I didn't have much to go by when I learned to ab, but getting a tape to learn stripes? that was the ticket for me!
The sketchkult has a newbie thread with lots of tips in it, including the basic strokes to do. Ron Gibbs (can't remember his sig name , but it is abbreviated canadian rat fink :) ) has put alot of info in a couple of threads in this area .
I've heard from alot of the pros that say, if you can pull nice lines on glass, you can pull on anything!
Another tip too, is if you want to do panels or things that you can lay flat, then practice flat, but if you want to do cars , things with odd angles(like a stand up fridge~) then practice with your glass leaning upright.
Once you get a feel for the strokes, study others designs, pinhead lounge has 1000's of sample works. pick a few lines you like and do them, then add more , and add more. Most designs are built. And there are a few different styles.
And ya gotta relax and breathe!
Oh , and you said you have brush, paint , and thinner (odorless I hope) get some oil too! and always keep the brush oiled! Once you get going, you'll find it relaxin and will take up your day! Best thing, just have fun!
hope that helps along with the other tips!
